FFADE IN:
1 INT. CEMETERY -- DAY 1
Mourners stand gathered in a semicircle around a hearse,
dressed in black. A Young Boy stands quietly in the center.
MOURNER #1
(whispers)
Go on, don't be afraid.
The Small Boy reluctantly approaches an open casket inside
the hearse. Mourner #1 remains by his side.
SOFT WHIMPERS.
MOURNER #1 (CONT'D)
(whispers)
He's crying, Jerrod.
The Small Boy stands frozen at the edge of the casket, staring
into it as if it were a gate into a bottomless pit. A small,
star-shaped pendant dangles from his neck.
MOURNER #1 (CONT'D)
(whispers)
He's crying for you.
The Small Boy looks up to Mourner #1 in confusion.
SMALL BOY
For me?
MOURNER #1
He wanted you to live a long life
here on earth... the way he did. But
that isn't for you.
SMALL BOY
(tearing)
Why?
A DECAYING HAND BURSTS from the casket and grabs the small
boy by the collar. He lets out a shriek as he shakes himself
loose and falls to the ground. He turns back to see legs
lower slowly from the back of the hearse. Cold, pale feet
touch the ground as the boy scrambles away in terror.
2 INT. DEEP WOODS -- NIGHT 2
The Small Boy darts between the trees, attempting to escape
the shambling horror that chases him. He looks back to see
the silhouette of the shivering corpse dragging its self
behind, its dress suit sliced in half down the back, sliding
off its chest and dangling loosely from one arm.
The Small Boy struggles to run from the site, but his feet
are tripped up by vines, seemingly rising from the ground to
slow his progress. The vines wrap around his legs and drag
him to the ground.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.
Strange, formless shadows creep around the trees, curiously
observing the boy's plight.
The boy glances back again. The old man opens his mouth as
if to speak, but only dark red blood flows from his lips.
The boy shrieks again and begins to pull himself through the
vines and dirt with all his strength. Bones seem to rise
from the soil as he claws his way through a human bone yard.
The boy finally pulls himself loose and makes a dash for
freedom.
He rounds a large tree to be met suddenly with a tall figure
shrouded in a black cloak blocking his way. He comes to a
screeching halt, falling back on the ground. He scrambles in
the other direction. Another cloaked figure blocks his path.
And another.
The formless shadows slink back into the woods, as if
frightened away by the cloaked figures.
The boy is soon surrounded by seven cloaked figures. One
reaches over and grabs him by his throat, pressing him against
a tree and lifting him slowly upward. He screams at the top
of his lungs as he stares into the cloaked figure's hood. We
slowly dive into the blackness.
An animal-like skull flashes from the void.
We zoom into the boys face, leaving only blackness and the
sound of swift blades followed by a thunderous crunch.
"NECROPHOBIA"
3 INT. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION SITE - HALL -- DAY 3
Dried blood runs down the wall of a dark and dusty office,
lit only by a streak of sunlight streaming in from a faded
window. At the base of the streak is the severed head of a
young woman, blue with decay. A pair of cowboy boots stand
over the carnage. Detective Joanna Stang kneels down, unlit
cigarette dangling from her lips, and rustles through her
long, golden duster for a light, jingling the revolver at
her side hip as she digs. Lighting her cigarette and snapping
her Zippo shut, she stares at the blood through her thin
sunglasses and follows the crimson streak down the wall and
across a long hallway toward the bathroom.
A police officer stands nearby, mopping his glistening brow
with a rag.
POLICE OFFICER #1
It's hot. It's so god damn hot.
Another police officer approaches with two cups of coffee.
POLICE OFFICER #2
You know what they're saying about
this guy?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.
POLICE OFFICER #1
It's like a god damn oven.
4 INT. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION SITE - BATHROOM -- DAY 4
Joanna Stang reaches the bathroom. Flies swarm the air.
The bathtub is filled with murky water. Inside the water
lies a headless human skeleton.
POLICE OFFICER #2 (O.S.)
They're calling this guy the reaper.
He always kills 'em with this curvy
thing... like a sickle... fourteen
of 'em in a row, all the same. Every
one.
Joanna Stang kneels down at the tub. She rolls up her sleeve
and begins to feel through the murk.
POLICE OFFICER #2 (O.S.) (CONT'D)
It's like clockwork. He cuts the
spinal cord... bleeds 'em to death...
saws the head right off with some
kinda jagged saw blade or something.
See, he's severing the mortal coil.
Taking their soul. Motherfucker
actually thinks he's the angel of
death.
Joanna Stang pulls a tiny object from the water. Upon close
examination, it appears to be a golden wing.
5 INT. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION SITE - HALL -- DAY 5
Police Officer #1 mops his forehead, almost in pain.
POLICE OFFICER #1
Goddammit.
POLICE OFFICER #2
They say it's always darkest just
before the dawn. You think that
works the other way around, too?
Police Officer #2 sips his coffee. Joanna Stang exits the
bathroom and begins to write in her notepad.
She pockets her notepad and looks up at Police Officer #1.
She takes a long drag of her cigarette and exhales as she
stares.
6 EXT. LONG DUSTY HIGHWAY -- DAY 6
As the sun sets across a deep red sky, the lone silhouette
of a man walks the long, dusty Texas highway. A car creeps
up behind JERROD, 28, as he turns with his thumb out, trying
desperately to hitch a ride.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.
7 INT. LISA'S CAR -- DAY 7
The radio blasts with loud metal guitar. A deep voice talks
over the music.
LISA, 21, reaches down and depresses the cigarette lighter.
ANNOUNCER - MALE (V.O.)
It's Melvin and Johnson in the
morning!
ANNOUNCER - FEMALE (V.O.)
I just love waking up with Dick
Johnson.
DICK JOHNSON (V.O.)
They found one more body. But get
this, it's been there since July. So
I guess they're still saying the
killings have stopped. I think that's
like... what is that, thirty seven
of 'em?
MELVIN (V.O.)
In a row?
DICK JOHNSON (V.O.)
OK, this may sound... I dunno...
wrong... but you know what, I'm
gettin' sick of hearin' about it.
SANDRA STORM (V.O.)
You're right, it sounds wrong.
DICK JOHNSON (V.O.)
I mean, c'mon, he hasn't killed anyone
in like a month or two? Leave the
bastard alone. He's done.
Young Gregory peers out the window to see JERROD looking for
a lift.
MELVIN (V.O.)
Maybe he's got killer's block. Do
they have that? You roll over one
morning and you're like... aww man,
not another day of slashin' people
up. I'm just not feeling it.
SANDRA STORM (V.O.)
(sarcastic)
Yeah, that's it.
MELVIN (V.O.)
I bet the press just made him up.
Slow news day, right... somebody's
like "hey, I got it! Let's make up a
serial killer 'til some real news
comes along!"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.
Gregory's aunt Lisa simply drives forward with no regard for
the hitchhiker.
GREGORY
Shouldn't we... stop?
DICK JOHNSON (V.O.)
Yeah... well I'm just tired of hearin'
about it, that's all...
MELVIN (V.O.)
Seriously! I mean, we're supposed
to buy this crap, right, about the
Grim freakin' Reaper?! That's
original. He's goin' around with
his little sickle and hacking people
up... uh, yeah! OK! What's next,
the Easter Bunny goes on a rampage?
"Who's that on the roof?! It's
frickin' Santa Claus! He's got a
shotgun... he's blowin' everybody
away!"
LISA ignores her nephew's suggestion. She reaches down to
take the lighter.
PAN DOWN to reveal duffel bag behind drivers seat.
C/U on duffel bag: it's filled with dozens of pill bottles.
DICK JOHNSON (V.O.)
Shut up, Melvin.
MELVIN (V.O.)
"Blam! No more Mrs. Claus! Kablamo!
Oh crap, there goes Rudolph!"
SANDRA STORM (V.O.)
Hey, let's ask our friendly
neighborhood Loco Bob!
LOCO BOB (V.O.)
Huh?
SANDRA STORM (V.O.)
OK, you're crazy, right? What do you
think? You think it's really the
Grim Reaper, or just some nutjob
with a sharp object, Bob?
LOCO BOB (V.O.)
What? I was asleep.
LISA drags on her cigarette and turns up the radio.
8 EXT. LONG DUSTY HIGHWAY -- DAY 8
JERROD watches the car pass by. He pulls his jacket hood
over his head as he stares hopelessly into the rolling clouds
of an approaching storm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.
DICK JOHNSON (V.O.)
Well, come what may. Hey all our
listeners out there need to start
listening up here... we are all gonna
be at Screamworld tonight for the
grand opening. We're talking two
football fields worth of twisted,
haunted house terror, so that's gonna
be a hell of a party. Don't any of
you party animals miss it...
DISSOLVE TO:
As the day grows dim, a set of headlights penetrates the
gloomy haze and pull slowly over to the side of the road.
JERROD quickly throws his two bags in the back and hops in
as the truck pulls slowly off.
9 EXT. HAUNTED HOUSE SIGN -- DAY 9
The beat up old pickup truck barrels down the road, coming
to a stop at a crooked wooden sign marked "SCREAMWORLD - The
Scariest Haunted House in Texas!". Another sign dangles below
reading "Help Wanted." JERROD Leaps out of the back and
grabs his gym bag as he stares off at the dirt road leading
to the haunted house.
TRUCK DRIVER
You crazy, kid?
JERROD looks at the sign.
JERROD
I don't like haunted houses. Never
could handle that stuff.
JERROD thumbs through his nearly empty wallet.
JERROD (CONT'D)
God knows... I need the work.
TRUCK DRIVER
Well, you better watch yer ass around
all them goddamn carnies.
JERROD takes out a five dollar bill and holds it up to the
Truck Driver.
JERROD
It's all I got.
The truck driver frowns. Jerrod hopes for a moment that he'll
let him keep it, but the truck driver quickly snatches the
five away and scratches his nose innocently as he slips the
bill into his shirt pocket. He suddenly reaches over to the
passenger seat and pulls up a backpack, dangling it out the
window.
TRUCK DRIVER
Don't forget yer books.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7.
JERROD
Thanks.
The Truck Driver yanks the backpack just out of Jerrod's
reach.
TRUCK DRIVER
A lot of books in here. Must think
yer pretty damn smart.
Jerrod reaches for the backpack again.
JERROD
Just restless. Gotta read to fall
asleep.
The truck driver yanks it back up and begins to drive slowly
forward.
TRUCK DRIVER
You been book-learned on all this
bullshit?
Jerrod begins to give chase.
JERROD
Yeah, I went to school.
TRUCK DRIVER
Oh yeah?
The Truck Driver gives Jerrod a nod and a grin, and tosses
the backpack into the back of his truck as he peals off down
the road. Jerrod jogs for a second before realizing he can
no longer keep up. Looking around, Jerrod gathers a couple
of books that flopped out on the ground and grabs his gym
bag.
JERROD
Thanks.
Standing alone for a moment in the cloud of dust, Jerrod
slowly draws his bag over his shoulder.
JERROD (CONT'D)
(mumbles)
Forgot my underwear... freak.
He begins to walk down a badly grown-over dirt path, passing
the haunted house sign again. At the edge of the sign is an
arrow marked "Haunted House - Four Miles".
10 EXT. GROWN-OVER TRAIL -- DAY 10
As Jerrod traverses the path, strange, formless shadows bleed
out from around the trees and creep down the road behind
him, as if stalking him. The shadows seem to consult with
each other and slink back down into the woods.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8.
Thunder rolls ominously in the distance as Jerrod approaches
the enormous structure resting seemingly in the middle of
nowhere, eerily surrounded by fields of tall grass and
shrouded in the gloomy clouds of dusk.
11 EXT. PARKING LOT -- NIGHT 11
As the darkness of night sets in, Jerrod approaches the
facility. A gargantuan Adam's Family style haunted house
facade rises to hide a wide warehouse building in back.
Jerrod reaches the main entrance, a courtyard enclosed by an
iron fence. There is a gap in the middle, barricaded with an
elaborate webbing of thick chains, bound in the center with
a giant lock. Lightning flashes and thunder rolls as Jerrod
rattles the chains.
JERROD
Hello?
After a moment of silence, a flashlight suddenly shines on
Jerrod's face, blinding him.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Is there a boss? A foreman or
something?
There's a faint groaning sound from the other side of the
gate.
JERROD (CONT'D)
I'm passing through, looking for
work. Listen, I know you're not
open tonight. I just need to speak
to your boss.
Bo Jack brings his face into the light and stares into
Jerrod's eyes for a moment.
BO JACK
Griffin?
JERROD
Is that... yeah. Let me speak to
Mr. Griffin.
Bo Jack slinks back into the darkness. After an awkward
silence, Jerrod rattles the chains again.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Hello?
To Jerrod's surprise, a loud clang releases the lock, causing
the enormous web of chains to collapse into a heap on the
ground.
12 INT. LOBBY -- NIGHT 12
The front door flies open as Bo Jack staggers into the main
lobby, wondering slowly into the darkness of the hallways
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.
beyond. Wind howls and lightning crashes as Jerrod also
staggers through the door, fighting to get it shut. Jerrod
wipes the sweat from his face and catches his breath for a
moment.
JERROD
Hello? Where'd you go?
The only light, hanging near the door, blinks on and off
sporadically. As Jerrod looks around the hall, he becomes
somewhat disoriented. A bizarre howling is heard in the
distance. Chains rattle. Jerrod decides he's waited long
enough and takes off down a hallway looking for Bo Jack.
13 INT. GALLOWS -- NIGHT 13
As Jerrod makes his way down the hallway, the sounds of
moaning and screaming become louder and louder. Jerrod comes
upon an iron cell holding the grotesque form of a skeleton
soaked in blood and standing with a noose around it's neck.
Passing by, he accidentally trips a sensor along the floor
and a trap door gives way under the skeleton, leaving it to
hang on the noose. After dangling for a few seconds, the
neck snaps and the body drops through the trap door, leaving
only the skull dangling loosely. Jerrod steps back, turning
a corner and shouting for his vanished guide.
JERROD
Anyone there?
As Jerrod turns his head to look the other way, a shadow
creeps along the wall in front of him and disappears around
a corner. Jerrod catches it out of the corner of his eye and
moves on to inspect the strange shadow, only to find an empty
corridor. He continues down the corridor to a door at the
end. Slowly turning the knob, Jerrod opens the door.
14 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- NIGHT 14
Jerrod peers into the room to see a set of steps leading up
to an open hatch in the floor. He approaches the hatch and
peers down into a dark pit, catching the sight of an erratic
light waving around from below. As the light grows brighter,
Jerrod slowly backs away. Suddenly, a hand rises from the
hatch, tossing down a flashlight and the dark figure of Buferd
pulls himself up from the darkness. Buferd looks down on
Jerrod with round goggles and a crude breathing mask. Raspy,
labored breath pulses as Buferd steps down from the hatch,
grabbing a shotgun from the edge of the ladder, and placing
it in Jerrod's face.
JERROD
Wait.
Suddenly, Mr. Joad appears behind Buferd, aiming a bright
flashlight beam over his shoulder to blind Jerrod.
MR. JOAD
What is it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10.
BUFERD
It trespasses.
15 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 15
Mr. Joad enters the workshop followed by Buferd and Jerrod.
MR. JOAD
This isn't what you're paid for,
Buferd
BUFERD
Hey, I didn't let this dipshit in
here!
Mr. Joad aims a baseball bat at Jerrod.
MR. JOAD
Did you break in here, kid?
JERROD
No, some big guy let me in! Huge.
Mr. Joad turns to his workbench and hangs his head. He picks
up an enormous wrench and fondles it somberly. Buferd turns
to Mr. Joad, toothpick hanging from his lip.
BUFERD
Bo Jack got loose.
Tears slowly well up in Mr. Joad's eyes. In a fit of anger,
he finally slams down his wrench.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
Told ya, cellar don't hold him no
more. What do you want me to do?
After a pause to reflect, Mr. Joad slowly gathers a bundle
of chains and turns to Buferd.
MR. JOAD
Take him down. Down to the museum.
Buferd takes the chains and picks up his shotgun.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
You don't need that.
Buferd locks eyes with Mr. Joad for a moment, then slings
the shotgun over his shoulder and heads back into the dark
hallway. Mr. Joad, drained of his energy, slinks down into
his chair. The lights flicker on and off as Jerrod
reluctantly addresses the distraught Mr. Joad.
JERROD
Are... are you Mr. Griffin?
MR. JOAD
Mr. Joad. Mr. Griffin's out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
11.
JERROD
Maybe you can help me.
MR. JOAD
Maybe not.
JERROD
I need a job.
MR. JOAD
No job here.
JERROD
You had a sign out there that said...
MR. JOAD
Got all the high school dropouts we
need, kid. Sorry.
Mr. Joad glances toward the hall. Teen Employee #1 hides
behind the doorway with a tire iron.
JERROD
Sir, I'm a trained professional.
I'm...
The lights continue to flicker.
MR. JOAD
Tryin' to piss me off? Is that what
you're doing?
Jerrod stands silent. The lights dim out completely, and
after a pause they return. Sparks are heard in the distant
halls.
Teen Employee #1 seems anxious to use his weapon on Jerrod.
JERROD
No sir.
The lights continue to dim in and out as Mr. Joad stares
down upon Jerrod, taking notice of his gym bag.
MR. JOAD
Hitchhiker, huh? Out of money, too,
I bet. What are you running from?
Probably in trouble with the law or
some shit.
Jerrod stands silent.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
So why the hell should I take you
in?
Teen Employee #1 begins to creep up behind Jerrod, raising
his tire iron slowly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
12.
JERROD
I'm a licensed electrician, sir.
The lights dim. Jerrod looks around the room in dismay.
MR. JOAD
Oh yeah?
Mr. Joad throws Teen Employee #1 a "screw off" look. He
freezes with his tire iron, disappointed.
JERROD
Yeah, two years experience in the...
uh...
The lights flicker once more as an electrical zap echoes
throughout the facility.
Mr. Joad stands up and grabs a tool belt.
MR. JOAD
All right Mr. electrician, you any
good?
JERROD
Yeah.
Mr. Joad towers over Jerrod for a moment before handing him
the tool belt. As Jerrod takes hold of it, Mr. Joad yanks it
closer.
MR. JOAD
Just don't you fuck up my wiring.
JERROD
What, you mean anymore?
16 INT. JERROD'S ROOM -- NIGHT 16
Buferd escorts Jerrod to a small storage room and tosses
down a bed roll.
BUFERD
Don't wonder around, just stay in
here. And don't touch shit.
Jerrod glances back out the door, down the dark hallway.
JERROD
Did you find... him?
Buferd stares down at Jerrod for a moment and gnaws on his
toothpick. He disappears back into the darkness of the hallway
without a word.
Jerrod sits motionless for a moment in the nearly pitch black
room. He clicks his lighter on. As he eyes the claustrophobic
confines of his humble quarters, strange noises penetrate
the walls. Moaning, scratching, an occasional rattling of
chains.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13.
Jerrod's eyes fall on a poster featuring a photo of the
haunted house and a caption reading "A Great Place to Die!"
Jerrod hears the creak of a door right outside his, followed
by muffled cackling. He walks over to investigate.
17 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 17
Jerrod opens his door and stares down the hallway, moving
slowly toward a light somewhere at the end. He then hears a
noise up some steps to his right. He turns to move up the
steps, when suddenly the door at the top creaks slowly open
and the shadowy form of Bo Jack creeps out, moving slowly
down the steps toward him. Jerrod backs down the steps and
hastens back to his room.
18 INT. JERROD'S ROOM -- NIGHT 18
Jerrod closes the door and latches it behind him.
He sits on his bedroll, sweat crawling down his forehead as
his breathing becomes labored and he feels himself nearing a
panic attack. Jerrod squints, balls his fists, and rests his
head on in his palms as he attempts to get a grip on himself.
As he slowly places a cigarette in his mouth and clicks his
lighter once more, he takes notice of a pocket book sitting
on a nearby crate entitled "Mysteries of the Afterlife".
Jerrod lifts the lighter to see an enormous stack of similar
books on death and the occult. He pulls the "Mysteries of
the Afterlife" book off the crate and slowly leans back in
his bed with his new discovery.
Lighting a nearby candle, Jerrod stares at the opening chapter
entitled "Revealing the Mysterious World of the Phantoms."
He notices text that reads "...exist only in this world as
shadows of their former selves...", followed by "...when an
undead shell is no longer able to contain its spirit, the
body is abandoned and the phantom roams without form, stalking
the living and preying upon fear." Jerrod continues to flip
the pages until he comes to an image of seven silhouettes
against a horizon. "Believed to be linked to the Seven Deadly
Sins, The Seven Shadows guard the gates from DeadWorld to
the next world. Rejected souls are reincarnated back on
Earth." To another chapter entitled "Necrophobia". Sudden
intense interest. He continues to read "An un-natural fear
of death and the dead." He reads elsewhere on the page "FEAR
OF THE DEAD." He stares at the chapter title for a moment,
then begins to delve into the book, speed reading the pages
as the flickering CANDLE MELTS SLOWLY DOWN.
19 EXT. CEMETERY -- NIGHT 19
PITCH BLACK. HEAVY BREATHING.
Lightning strikes in the distance, revealing a tall figure
and a short figure standing at a grave.
JERROD lays in an empty field. He looks up to see a grown-
over tombstone over his head... it reads Here Lies Jerrod
Dean Foster. The dates of birth and death are faded, but
below it reads Died at the tragic age of 26.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14.
Survived by no one, his death was as meaningless as the life
he led.
JERROD stares at the headstone. He is now in a coffin. There
is a small slit in the lid through which he can see
gravediggers tossing dirt on top of him.
JERROD
No! Wait! Stop! Please, stop!
Rotting arms burst into the coffin from below and grab onto
him. He struggles. The coffin slowly grows to pitch black.
SUDDEN FLASH OF AN ANIMAL SKULL.
20 INT. JERROD'S ROOM -- DAY 20
Jerrod bursts from his bed, startled awake from a bad dream.
Daylight gives a slight illumination to the room. He turns
his head slowly upward to notice a mobile of troll dolls
hanging from nooses, dangling overhead.
21 EXT. BACK LOT -- DAY 21
Jerrod pulls the garage door slowly open and stands shivering
for a moment, an unlit cigarette hanging from his lips and a
book under his arm, to witness dawn's light piercing into
the dark workshop. He makes his way out to the patio and
takes a seat on a stool. He Pulls out his newfound book.
He turns to a page entitled "The Nature of DeadWorld." He
reads "The dead often crossover into our world, sometimes
with violent intentions. We call these ghosts, or
poltergeists. But it is also recorded that sometime in the
last three-thousand years, the Seven Shadows found a mortal
who was born with the ability to crossover into DeadWorld
almost at will. The Seven Shadows used the powers of the
Vagobond to help keep the dead in DeadWorld, where they
belonged." He stares at a picture of a silhouetted man doing
battle with a ghost, captioned "The Journeyman."
He flips again to a chapter entitled "Egypt and DeadWorld -
The Amulet of Thu-Lah," featuring a photo of an elderly man
wearing a dark waistcoat with thick, gray sideburns lining
his aged face, an eyepiece wedged under his low brow, and a
curved pipe hanging from his frowned lips. His caption reads
"Professor Jebodiah Stang, 1869-1938, leading authority on
the afterlife."
Jerrod pulls out his lighter as his eye skips down to a
photograph of several burnt scraps of paper, one of which
featuring a strange emblem with seven symbols surrounding an
animal skull in the center. The caption reads "The professor's
invaluable journal was almost totally destroyed in the
McCrearry Manor fire that ended his life."
Jerrod lights his cigarette, leaning back as he stares off
toward the back gate. He takes notice of a black cloak hanging
on a nail and a shiny plastic sickle propped up next to it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
15.
He pulls a small necklace with a seven-pointed star pendant
from behind his shirt and begins to rub it. He loses himself
momentarily in thought.
Suddenly, a pair of eyes appear in the reflective surface of
the sickle's blade. Jerrod spins around to see a scrawny,
sickly man standing behind him with tattered clothing and a
large, shabbily wrapped bandage around his head masking half
his face and one of his eyes. His jaw seems to have been
injured and is augmented with a clunky, metal brace.
LENNY
He take it. He take your soul and he
chew it up like mutton!
JERROD
...the hell?
Lenny clicks his metal jaw nervously. He weaves around chairs
and ladders, obscuring himself from Jerrod's view.
LENNY
Maybe if it ain't quite ripe, he
spit it out... come back later!
JERROD
What are you talking about?
LENNY
Maybe if you ask real nice... death
give you second chance!
Jerrod appears shocked. He tries to get a better look at
Lenny, following him through an obstacle course of furniture
and equipment.
JERROD
Who are you?
Lenny glances down to Jerrod's book.
LENNY
Aggghh! you took it!
Jerrod looks down at the book.
JERROD
Sorry, I... I didn't know it was...
LENNY
You... you steal my room, then you
steal my books!
Lenny quickly snatches the book away and limps off toward
the workshop, dragging his leg as he moves. He looks back
for a moment to sneer at Jerrod.
JERROD
Hey! Wait a minute! I didn't mean
to... wait!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
16.
Lenny darts through the side gate. Jerrod follows, trying
to catch up with him. He hears voices around the side.
WORKER #1
Found these up on I-35.
He sees a group of workers unloading large sacks from the
back of a truck.
WORKER #2
Get 'em down to the lab.
He turns back to be suddenly faced with Mr. Joad.
JERROD
Whoa!
MR. JOAD
We're the hell have you been? Sun's
been up nearly an hour!
Jerrod looks around, somewhat disoriented.
JERROD
I... uh...
MR. JOAD
No slacking today, kid! He's here!
Mr. Joad begins to rush around the room, gathering supplies
from the shelves. Jerrod struggles to keep up with him.
JERROD
Who? Who's here?
22 INT. DRESSING ROOM -- DAY 22
Buferd rushes down the hall while banging on the wall.
BUFERD
Wake up, idiots!
Buferd turns a corner into the dressing room to see a group
of teenagers lying around the room playing cards and drinking
beer.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
It's the boss!
23 INT. LOBBY -- DAY 23
Mr. Griffin leads Detective Joanna Stang through the main
hall, passing a group of employees trying to tidy up on short
notice.
24 INT. MR. GRIFFIN'S OFFICE -- DAY 24
Mr. Griffin opens his office door and Joanna Stang follows
him inside.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
17.
MR. GRIFFIN
You didn't have to come all the way
down here, Jo.
Mr. Griffin walks around his desk to face the Detective.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
You don't trust me, do ya?
Mr. Griffin unlocks a wall safe behind his desk and takes
out a large envelope, being careful to mask the rest of its
contents.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
You should. When B.D. Griffin makes
a promise... you can bet your life
on it.
Mr. Griffin tosses the envelope to Joanna Stang, who quickly
opens it and pulls out several ziplock bags containing scraps
of paper.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Pretty thing like you... gotta have
someone to trust on this god awful
lump o' dirt.
Joanna Stang marvels at the pages, mostly ignoring Mr.
Griffin.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Granddaddy's little journal all put
back together again?
JOANNA STANG
Most of it burned to ash, along with
McCrearry Manor.
MR. GRIFFIN
Yeah, but you got your little
collection, right?
Joanna Stang stares down at the envelope.
JOANNA STANG
Well, there's still a few pages
missing... Bart.
MR. GRIFFIN
It's B.D.
Mr. Griffin and Joanna Stang hold a short staring match.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Anyway... I'm sure the rest'll turn
up.
Mr. Griffin takes a seat at his desk.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Now, you're positive about all your
uh... research... on our little
friend, right?
JOANNA STANG
Our little friend?
MR. GRIFFIN
Yeah, our little friend. About the
Reaper.
JOANNA STANG
The Reaper?
Joanna Stang stares at Mr. Griffin.
JOANNA STANG (CONT'D)
You should stop reading the papers.
MR. GRIFFIN
Look, I don't want any confusion
here. I want my prize.
JOANNA STANG
Well, if it's the depraved lunatic
who's been traveling from town to
town, slicing up kids and severing
their spinal cords you want... he's
your man.
Mr. Griffin sits back in his chair and lights a cigar. He
sizes up Joanna Stang with his eyes.
MR. GRIFFIN
The secrets in that head of yours...
goddammit, it's criminal. I met your
daddy once, you know. Total fuck up.
But then, what else can you expect
from a kid growing up in the shadow
of the greatest paranormal detective
who ever lived. You know, Jo... they
say genius skips a generation. When
are you gonna start following in
grandaddy's footsteps?
Joanna Stang seals the envelope once again and fondles it as
she reflects.
JOANNA STANG
I thought you had a drink for me, -
Bart.
Mr. Griffin pulls open a drawer and slips out an enormous
bottle of whiskey.
MR. GRIFFIN
Now you're talkin'.
Mr. Griffin pours a pair of glasses unusually high.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
19.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
You oughta stick around, Jo. Check
out the party. First show of the
season... gonna be a hell of a night.
Mr. Griffin swishes his own glass around.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
I guarantee that.
Mr. Griffin takes a sip and throws Joanna Stang a wink. She
takes her tall drink and throws it down in one gulp, slamming
the glass upside down on the desk which startles Mr. Griffin.
JOANNA STANG
Mr. Griffin... as tempting as whatever
arcane knowledge you've discovered
in these pages may be to you...
There's something you really oughta
keep in mind about my grandfather
before you go screwing around with
his work.
MR. GRIFFIN
Oh yeah? And what's that?
JOANNA STANG
It killed him. Jebodiah Stang died
tampering with nature. Trying to
twist the rules of life and death,
even if only to study them, is a
serious breach of contract between
earth and man. Between mortals...
and the others. If there's anything
you should take from my grandfather's
journal, it's that you cannot bend
the forces of DeadWorld. You try all
you like, in the end the forces of
DeadWorld will only bend you. Until
you break.
MR. GRIFFIN
Yeah?
Mr. Griffin drags on his cigar.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Well... I'll be sure and take all
that bullshit under advisement...
Jo.
Mr. Griffin flicks his cigar gently over an ashtray.
25 INT. LOBBY -- DAY 25
Mr. Joad prepares for opening night while walking Jerrod
through the basics at a speedy pace. Jerrod suddenly runs
into Joanna Stang, knocking the envelope out of her duster.
Jerrod attempts to pick it up first, but is too slow for the
Detective.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20.
He reaches down and retrieves a single piece she missed, a
burnt scrap of journal enclosed in a ziplock bag. The scrap
contains the strange illustration he saw earlier, depicting
seven symbols surrounding an animal-like skull in the center.
Joanna Stang snatches the page away and returns it to the
envelope, sliding it all back into her jacket. She eyes Jerrod
for a moment longer, then presses on to her truck outside.
Jerrod watches her go with amazement and curiosity.
26 INT. MORTONICS LAB -- DAY 26
A long needle slides into a thin vile, extracting a bright
green liquid.
A mysterious figure wraps a wide belt around his arm and
tightens it with his teeth.
The needle penetrates a thick vain.
The green liquid is plunged slowly down into he vain.
In the background, several sacks stained with red lean against
the wall. One begins to move.
27 EXT. GENERATOR AREA -- DAY 27
Strange shadows creep along the fence, slinking back down
into the ground as Jerrod approaches the generator that sits,
humming and vibrating, near the back wall of the complex.
Jerrod feels a strange sense of foreboding as he turns slowly
around to inspect the haunted house complex. The appearance
is no less menacing in the daytime.
CUT TO:
Jerrod kneels at the generator, tightening bolts and adding
gasoline to its tank when Buferd comes waddling along.
BUFERD
Got that new chain on there yet?
JERROD
Just about.
BUFERD
You can just about shove that up
your ass. If the power goes out,
this sumbitch better be working. No
generator, no juice.
JERROD
Yes sir.
BUFERD
I don't wanna see this goddamn thing
broke down! I mean it!
JERROD
Yes sir.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
21.
Jerrod continues to work on the generator.
28 EXT. MAIN ENTRANCE -- DAY 28
Employees scurry around making preparations for opening night
as Jerrod makes his way across the gated area to the entrance
with a bundle of wiring slung over his arm. Buferd's voice
barks out over Jerrod's radio.
BUFERD (V.O.)
Where the hell is that cable?
JERROD
On it's way in now.
Jerrod gets a glimpse of Mr. Griffin. His face is red and
his forehead is covered in sweat as he barks orders at Mr.
Joad.
MR. GRIFFIN
Opening night, boys! Look alive!
MR. JOAD
You, there! Pick up all that sand
paper and get the garbage can out of
here. Hey, let's get that sign up!
EMPLOYEE #1
Yes sir.
MR. JOAD
Are those speakers hot?
MR. GRIFFIN
How's that museum looking, Joad?
Mr. Joad pauses, taken a bit off guard.
MR. JOAD
Had some problems last night. It's
that cellar door, it's no good. Wood's
all rotted. Just flies right off. I
think if we...
MR. GRIFFIN
Bo got out again, didn't he?
Mr. Joad gives Mr. Griffin a reluctant nod.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
He's your responsibility, Joad!
MR. JOAD
He's all locked up, now. We moved
him down into the museum. There
shouldn't be any more...
Mr. Griffin mops his brow with a thick rag and stares at it
as he slowly folds it back up.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
22.
MR. GRIFFIN
I want that museum ready for October.
No more excuses from you.
29 EXT. PARKING LOT -- DAY 29
Kids frolic and sparklers flare as the opening night unfolds,
running primarily under the surveillance of a handful of
inept teenagers who stand around the door shoving cash into
the pockets of their day-glow smocks. A line filled with
children winds past a sign that reads "Family Happy Hour -
7pm to 9pm!" Several mothers accompany the children, while
most of the fathers stand around their trucks drinking beer.
Lisa stands at her car and speaks to her nephew inside.
LISA
Get out Gregory.
Gregory sits in the car with his arms crossed.
LISA (CONT'D)
You wanted to see the haunted house.
So get out of the car and let's go
see the goddamn haunted house.
Gregory exits the car, slamming the door, and takes off into
the line of customers. One of the teenagers on duty takes
notice of Lisa. As she looks back at him with a wrinkled
expression, the teenager gives her a smirk and cocks his
eyebrow. Lisa seems disgusted and continues on, trying to
keep up with her nephew who continues to run through the
line leading to the entrance where children are handing over
their tickets and running inside.
30 INT. SLIME PIT -- DAY 30
Two young boys play in the slime for a moment and continue
running down the isle. A young girl tries to keep up with
them as they run.
ANNIE
Billy, Tyler, slow down!
BILLY
Why? Ain't nothin' to be scared of,
this place is stupid!
TYLER
I ain't scared neither!
Suddenly, a giant crocodile head snaps at the two boys from
a huge pipe in the wall, causing them both to jump back in
panic. As they back into Annie, they spin around to see her
standing with her arms folded and shaking her head.
ANNIE
Idiots.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
23.
31 INT. CURTAIN -- DAY 31
Children run in terror past an enormous curtain and out the
exit doors. Billy, Tyler and Annie stop to eyeball the
mysterious shroud.
BILLY
C'mon.
ANNIE
Billy, we're not supposed to... Billy!
Tyler!
32 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- DAY 32
Billy, Tyler, and Annie emerge from behind the curtain to
see an enormous, roped-off gateway under a sign that reads
"Necrophobia - Museum of the Depraved and the Dead." Buferd
stands at the doors and messes with a tangle of wiring.
BUFERD
Ain't open tonight. Museum ain't
never open for kids.
Buferd looks over to the children with a grim face.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
Too scary for you little turds.
BILLY
Shoot, I ain't scared.
TYLER
Yeah, I ain't scared neither.
Annie rolls her eyes at Tyler.
ANNIE
You are such a follower, Tyler.
Buferd stops what he's doing for a moment and turns to the
kids.
BUFERD
You kids run along, now.
Buferd grins at the kids. Annie throws a mock grin back at
him. The three children turn and walk away as Buferd continues
his work under the ominous doors of Necrophobia.
33 INT. DARK CELL -- DAY 33
The mangled form of Bo Jack hangs by his arms, tied behind
his back with a thick boat chain. As he twists and writhes
around, his moans and shrieks echo down the halls.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
24.
34 EXT. SIDE OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 34
Enormous sparks fly from a power box as Jerrod steadies
himself on a ladder and attempts to fix the electricity
problems. His radio buzzes.
BUFERD (V.O.)
How's it coming, boy?
JERROD
Well, it looks like someone put copper
tubing in the fuse box. Caused a few
fires, snafu'd the wiring pretty
good. Whole unit could stand a swap-
out.
BUFERD (V.O.)
Oh yeah?
35 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- DAY 35
Buferd stands on a ladder near the Museum entrance doors
with his radio as he wipes the sweat from his head.
BUFERD
So, what'd you leave the army for
anyhow?
36 EXT. SIDE OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 36
JERROD
How's that?
BUFERD (V.O.)
Army man. Know one when I hear one.
JERROD
Yeah, well... that was a long time
ago.
BUFERD (V.O.)
Right. What are you, awol or some
shit? Couldn't take that army life,
right?
JERROD
It wasn't the army life that got to
me. It was more the whole army death
thing. You know what I'm saying?
BUFERD (V.O.)
Yeah.
37 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- DAY 37
BUFERD
(mumbles)
You're a pussy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
25.
38 EXT. SIDE OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 38
JERROD
Anyway, this copper burned out half
these wires from overload.
BUFERD (V.O.)
That ain't what did it.
JERROD
Well something did, they're completely
gnarled. One of 'em looks like...
like somethings' been chewing on it.
BUFERD (V.O.)
Well re-rout it! We got some new
cables out back.
Jerrod struggles with his pliers for a moment, then throws
them down.
JERROD
You know... I'd really love to, but
I can't get anything done with these
tools. Their totally rusted over.
BUFERD (V.O.)
Well shit, come and get mine! I'm
at the stairs.
Jerrod stares up at the haunted house, frozen for a moment.
JERROD
Uh... I don't know where that is.
39 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- DAY 39
BUFERD
Ain't you got a map?
JERROD (V.O.)
Uh... that's a negative.
BUFERD
Godammit... stay put...
Buferd clicks off his radio and jumps down from his ladder.
As he stomps away from the doors, the three children emerge
once more from the shadows. Billy and Tyler nod their heads
at each other.
ANNIE
You guys are gonna get in so much
trouble.
BILLY
Fine, you stay here. We don't need
no girls.
Tyler just looks at Annie and shrugs. Annie scoffs at him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
26.
ANNIE
Follower.
40 INT. ZOMBIE HALL -- DAY 40
The doors creep open and the two boys crawl through a pitch
black hallway along some sort of bridge. Above them, they
hear the eerie sound of moaning. A strange liquid drips along
the cold, metal floor around them. Below them echoes the
sound of swishing water and gurgling.
41 INT. STAIRWAY -- DAY 41
The two boys come out of the hall and stand at the top of an
enormous stairway. Staring down into the darkness, the two
boys creep slowly down toward a dim red light at the bottom.
TYLER
What is that down there?
BILLY
It's cool. C'mon.
42 INT. CAGE HALL -- DAY 42
As Billy and Tyler come to the bottom of the stairway, they
reach a door with a plaque titled "Hall of Undead Freaks."
The two boys walk slowly in to find a hall lined with cages
lit only by the dim, red light of the sign above the door.
Billy approaches one of the cages and attempts to make out
the strange, twisted forms inside, but it is too dark to
catch anything more than a few glistening surfaces and the
silhouettes of bodies. The boys begin to read off the plaques
beside the cells.
BILLY
Look here, this one says The Headless
Woman! Squid Boy!
TYLER
Look at this one! The Two-Headed
Beast!
BILLY
The Faceless Horror! No way, I gotta
see this!
Billy gets right up to the cage bars. He peers inside the
dark cell, to see only shadows and the form of chains
dangling.
BILLY (CONT'D)
I don't see nothin'.
TYLER
Maybe they ain't put out yet.
Suddenly, a crimson skull appears at the bars and scares
Billy back into Tyler. The two of them collapse at the base
of another cage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
27.
As Billy stares in shock at the creature clawing from across
the floor, a hand reaches slowly over his shoulder from the
cage behind him. The hand grabs Billy by the shoulder and
he lets out a deafening scream.
43 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- DAY 43
Annie hears the two boys calling for help and spins around
to face the entrance archway.
ANNIE
Billy? Tyler!
Annie takes off through the entrance doors.
44 INT. ZOMBIE HALL -- DAY 44
Annie plows across the bridge, driving toward the boys.
45 INT. STAIRWAY -- DAY 45
Annie flies down the stairs toward the red light.
46 INT. CAGE HALL -- DAY 46
Annie reaches the cage room to see Tyler kneeling next to
Billy, who is lying on the floor in a pool of blood.
TYLER
I'm scared.
47 INT. HALLWAY -- DAY 47
Jerrod watches Mr. Griffin as he charges down the hall toward
his office, staring down Mr. Joad as he slams the door in
his face.
48 INT. MR. GRIFFIN'S OFFICE -- DAY 48
Billy's mother spins around to meet Mr. Griffin with red,
tear soaked eyes.
MR. GRIFFIN
Don't you worry Mrs. Eckles, you're
little boy's with our medic now,
he's just fine. Just a teeny weeny
little scratch there, on his little...
on his little throat.
MRS. ECKLES
What did this to him? What in the
hell do you have down there!?
Buferd comes out of the closet with a bundle of wiring.
BUFERD
Dogs?
MRS. ECKLES
What was that?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
28.
BUFERD
We got guard dogs. Mighta' been one
of the guard dogs.
MR. GRIFFIN
Thanks for the input, Buferd.
Mr. Griffin stares Buferd down as he hangs his head and leaves
the room. Mr. Griffin takes a seat and drags on his cigar.
MRS. ECKLES
I'm gonna sue you. I'm taking you
for everything you're fuckin' worth,
Mr. Griffin!
Mr. Griffin stares up at the red faced Mrs. Eckles with his
cigar hanging awkwardly out of his mouth.
MR. GRIFFIN
(speech slurred by
cigar)
Well, I do wish you'd change your
mind, Mrs. Eckles.
MRS. ECKLES
Oh yeah, I'm sure you do.
Mr. Griffin takes the cigar and gently taps it over the ash
tray.
MR. GRIFFIN
It's just, I'd hate to see you waste
all that money on lawyers and courts
and stuff like that. I mean, these
roped off areas, they're roped off
for a reason. We have policies, you
know? If your little boy's gonna go
breakin' the rules and... and putting
himself and that other little boy in
danger... heck, I mean, you'll be
lucky as hell if that other little
boy's parents don't turn around and
press charges on you!
MRS. ECKLES
Look Mr. Griffin, I know what you're
trying to do! You shovel all the
legal double talk you want, I'm gonna
defend my son!
Mrs. Eckles draws her purse over her arm and walks toward
the door.
MRS. ECKLES (CONT'D)
My uncle's a cop. I know my rights.
I'm gonna figure out what the hell
is going on here!
Mr. Griffin pulls open a drawer and slams down a fat, yellow
envelope.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
29.
Mrs. Eckles stops short of the door and turns slowly around
to see the envelope.
MRS. ECKLES (CONT'D)
What the hell is that? Are you trying
to pay me off Mr. Griffin? You really
think I'd choose money over my own
son? You gotta be kidding!
Mr. Griffin drags on his cigar.
MRS. ECKLES (CONT'D)
You're... you're nothing but an
animal.
MR. GRIFFIN
It's thirty thousand dollars.
Mrs. Eckles drops her purse and stands in shock.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Listen ma'am, the boy's daddy...
he's one of them boozers out by the
trucks, isn't he? So, what are you
plannin' to do? Are you planning to
put your boy through college on
hubby's unemployment checks? I mean,
is that your big plan for him? Or is
he just gonna be Daddy's little boy?
Flip burgers for a while, till he
finds himself a spunky little broad
like yourself to come along and work
her ass off... so little billy can
retire to a six pack and a TV set?
I mean, is that all he's worth?
Mrs. Eckles takes a seat and gathers her purse in her lap.
Mr. Griffin leans forward and clasps his hands to his chin,
staring Mrs. Eckles directly in the eye, who stares back
with a stone cold expression.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
How much your daddy shell out to put
you're pretty little head through
school... so you could... so you
could what, turn around and help the
town drunk carry on his fine lineage?
Mrs. Eckles hangs her head down slowly and closes her eyes.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
I mean, how much? How much of his
hard earned money did you just flush
down the pisser? I'd like to know.
Mr. Griffin stands and slowly walks around to Mrs. Eckles,
taking a seat on the desk, propping a leg on an empty chair,
and folding his arms as he stares down at her. He speaks in
a soft tone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
30.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
(softly)
Oh Mrs. Eckles, don't tell me you
sacrificed your education, too? Why,
don't you know what that is, Sharon?
May I call you Sharon?
MRS. ECKLES
(mumbles)
No.
MR. GRIFFIN
(softly)
Don't you know what that is, Mrs.
Eckles? Why, that's a goddamn tragedy.
Mrs. Eckles covers her eyes. She begins to choke back tears.
Her purse slides slowly off her lap and onto the floor once
again. Mr. Griffin tries to comfort her by rubbing her
shoulder, but she half heartedly bats him away.
MRS. ECKLES
(mumbles)
No. N... no.
MR. GRIFFIN
(softly)
That's your son's life, Mrs. Eckles.
Right there in that wrinkly little
yellow envelope. Now, do you really
wanna let pride eat it all up? Don't
you go away from here... don't you
just go off and leave it sittin'
there. It's your son. Don't let him
grow up and be like... like you.
Mr. Griffin taps his cigar over the ashtray near the envelope.
He slowly drags on his cigar and blows the smoke down toward
Mrs. Eckles. She stares at the envelope, then looks up at
Mr. Griffin once again with red, tear soaked eyes.
49 EXT. PARKING LOT -- DAY 49
Billy limps along side his family across the parking lot,
followed by Annie and Tyler, somberly holding hands. Billy's
father stumbles along with a can of beer as his mother checks
the bandage on Billy's neck and turns to look back at Mr.
Griffin.
Mr. Griffin stands at the door with Mr. Joad and stares back
as the family makes their way to their car.
MR. JOAD
We shouldn't be doing this. It's
too dangerous.
Mr. Griffin turns to look Mr. Joad in the eyes with an evil
stare as he takes a final drag off his cigar and grinds it
into the dirt with his boot. Mr. Griffin heads back to his
office as Buferd approaches Mr. Joad.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
31.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
They're breakin' their chains, Buferd.
BUFERD
Chains are weak... all rusted up
from hosing 'em down so much.
MR. JOAD
Use more of 'em!
BUFERD
Gotta put down the one that hurt the
kid.
MR. JOAD
Fine.
BUFERD
Little bastard musta gone crazy.
MR. JOAD
Fine!
BUFERD
Tell ya what we oughta do, we oughta
get rid of all the problem ones, if
you ask me. Startin' with Lenny,
and that crazy ass Bo Jack.
Mr. Joad grabs Buferd by the collar and slams him against
the wall.
MR. JOAD
You don't touch Bo!
Mr. Joad slowly lets Buferd down and turns his back to him.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
You just... use more chains.
50 INT. DARK CELL -- DAY 50
The dark, disfigured Bo Jack hangs from the ceiling, now
bound with nearly enough chains to smother him.
BUFERD
Break these, shithead.
Buferd picks up his tools and a shotgun, and heads down the
hall.
51 INT. CAGE HALL -- DAY 51
As Buferd makes his way down the dark hall, he pauses at the
cage where Billy was attacked. Inside, the zombie lies on
the floor, curled up with his broken length of chain dangling.
The zombie creeps up to the bars as Buferd begins to load
his shotgun. The creature paws at the bars and heaves at
Buferd.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
32.
BUFERD
Now, you know you guys ain't to be
trusted once you had the taste of
blood.
Buferd slides the shotgun barrel through the bars, resting
the tip on the forehead of the creature, and pulls the
trigger.
52 EXT. BACK OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 52
Jerrod flips up his welding mask and switches off his blow
torch, taking notice of the shotgun noise. As he slowly shakes
it off, dismissing it as his imagination, he turns to see
Lenny waiting behind him.
JERROD
Oh... jeez! You like sneaking up on
people?!
Lenny clicks his metal jaw. He slowly pulls a book from
underneath his shirt and sets it down on a stool. Jerrod
slowly picks it up.
JERROD (CONT'D)
What is this? Are you... letting me
borrow this?
Lenny just stares back at him with a strange intensity. Jerrod
looks down to the book's leather cover which reads "The
Partial Journal of Professor Jebodiah Stang, Edited by Joanna
Stang." Jerrod flips the book open to see Joanna Stang's
photo in the back.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Hey, I know this woman. She was here!
LENNY
The master talks to her. He wouldn't
let me talk to her.
Buferd stands around the corner for a moment with his ear
out, then leans back against the wall as he eavesdrops on
the other two.
JERROD
The master? You talking about Griffin?
LENNY
Shhh! Be quiet! We're not alone...
Jerrod looks around, a bit confused. He looks down to the
book.
Lenny looks around and creeps back into the shadows.
Flipping through the book, Jerrod notices an image of the
seven-pointed symbol from the burnt journal page captioned
"The Golden Amulet of Thu-Lah".
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
33.
He reads "believed to have been a myth by most credible
anthropologists, the professor may have discovered proof of
the amulet's existence after all. Had so much of the journal
not perished in flames..." Jerrod runs his fingers over the
image of the amulet.
JERROD
This thing... tell me what this is...
Jerrod looks up to see that Lenny has vanished. Jerrod turns
his attention back to the book. He pulls out his seven-pointed
star necklace and examines it for a minute. He begins to rub
it as he starts to read again.
53 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- DAY 53
Lenny creeps through the hall, dragging his leg as he checks
the corners. He nervously clicks his metal jaw. A hand
suddenly drops down on his shoulder and he whips his head
around to see Buferd standing over him.
BUFERD
Gotcha!
54 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- DAY 54
Buferd tosses Lenny squealing and flailing into the room.
BUFERD
Yer bustin' my balls, you know that?
He grabs lenny by the throat and yanks him around, pulling a
pistol from the back of his jeans and grinding it into Lenny's
mouth. Lenny's bandage falls off, revealing an old, and
obviously mortal wound to his head.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
Lenny, you break outta that goddamn
gimp box again and I'll blow them
pearly whites right through what
brain you got left.
Buferd leans over and shouts into the hole in Lenny's head
where an ear might once have been.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
(shouts)
You heard that?
Buferd pops the lock on the hatch, flips it open and shoves
Lenny squealing down into the dark pit.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
And don't go countin' on Bo Jack to
bust you out again, neither.
Lenny beats on the door from inside the pit and lets out
terrible shrieks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
34.
LENNY
Let me out of here! Pleeease! I'll
die... down here, I'll die!
Buferd rests his boot on the hatch and begins to lock it
back up.
BUFERD
A little late for that, dumbass.
'Sides, you gonna be joining yer big
buddy in the museum real soon. We
got you a little cage and everything!
Maybe I'll saw yer ass in half.
Behold... the Amazing Half Man!
LENNY
Wh... what?
BUFERD
Soon as I find my goddamn chainsaw...
55 EXT. SIDE OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 55
Lisa stumbles through the back yard looking for the main
office when the teen employee from earlier catches sight of
her once again.
TEEN EMPLOYEE #1
Hey, you lookin' for some fun?
Lisa turns slowly with a disgusted look on her face. The
teenager slips his hand into the front of his jeans as the
the other teenagers chuckle. As Lisa turns to walk away,
Jerrod runs into her.
JERROD
You looking for something?
LISA
I'm not looking for you.
Jerrod stands holding his book in puzzled silence.
LISA (CONT'D)
(mumbles)
Asshole.
Lisa presses on for a moment before turning to Jerrod once
more.
LISA (CONT'D)
Hey! Is the office in here?
Lisa points to a dark opening in the building. Jerrod doesn't
even bother to look back as he continues on in the other
direction.
JERROD
Yeah, sure. Whatever.

56 INT. MR. GRIFFIN'S OFFICE -- DAY 56
A clueless kid wonders in, knocking on the door frame.
CLUELESS KID
Hey, is this the office?
Buferd spins around in Mr. Griffin's chair to face him with
a wide grin. He holds a red rag in his hands as he scrubs
blood from his fingernails.
BUFERD
Sure is! What can I do for ya?
CLUELESS KID
I'm hitchhiking up to Arkansas...
BUFERD
Hitchhiking? You all alone down
here?
CLUELESS KID
Yeah, anyway, I saw yer sign. You
hiring? If you're lookin' for a
hard worker... handy with a hammer...
Teen Employee #1 smashes Clueless Kid across the back of the
skull with a hammer. He goes down like a ton of bricks.
Buferd continues to grin.
BUFERD
Got one.
Teen Employee #1 gives a giddy smile.
57 INT. MORTONICS LAB -- DAY 57
Through endless jars filled with a bright green liquid, we
see bodies writhing on tables, strapped down with tubes
protruding from their flesh. A sign leans on a nearby table
reading "Broke. Family in Oklahoma. Please help."
A shape stands hunched over a work table. He tightens a strap
around his arm, slapping it several times. He removes a needle
from his teeth and positions it on his arm, plunging its
green liquid into his body.
Mr. Griffin plops down on a crate in the corner and struggles
for a moment as the liquid courses through his veins. He
looks into a warped mirror across from him.
MR. GRIFFIN
Sweet destiny. Sweet, sweet destiny.
58 EXT. PARKING LOT -- NIGHT 58
A local radio station van pulls into the parking lot marked
"105 - The Diamond" on the doors. As the side door slides
open, Kraig and Stew hop out wearing radio station t-shirts,
hooting and hollering as if it were new years.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
36.
Behind them, the tall and cocksure Dick Johnson steps out
with his shorter and somewhat sleazier sidekick Melvin. Next,
the radiant Sandra Storm exits, lean and sexy, with her punk
rocker boyfriend Randy Rage who is covered in leather, steel
spikes, wicked tattoos, and wearing his hair in a spiked
mohok. The mousy weather girl Jesse Chase finally steps out,
followed by quiet Robbie "Loco Bob" Maynard, and confident
Program Director Miranda Shelly. As the radio crew approach
the premises, Mr. Griffin stands with Mr. Joad ready to greet
them. Miranda Shelly shouts over the music and chatter of
the opening night festivities.
MIRANDA SHELLY
B.D. Griffin?
MR. GRIFFIN
That's me. You must be Ms. Shelly.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Program director, 105, The Diamond.
Listen we're going to be using a
wireless system to do the broadcast,
are you sure we'll be able to get a
clear signal through... that?
Mianda Shelly stares up at the enormous haunted house facade,
rising high into the night sky.
MR. GRIFFIN
Sure, we're on VOX all the time.
MR. JOAD
Who are these kids?
Mr. Joad points to Kraig and Stew in frustration.
MIRANDA SHELLY
They won the contest, they'll be
tagging along with us for the tour
tonight.
MR. JOAD
Nobody said anything about this. If
these guys are gonna be running around
screwin' up the show...
MR. GRIFFIN
It's alright, Mr. Joad.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Don't worry guys, they won't. Believe
me, we have them under control.
As the two kids make their way through the crowd, continuing
to cut up, Kraig hops up onto a stool.
KRAIG
Woohoo, let's fuckin' party!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
37.
STEW
Wooooo!
The other customers seem more than a little disturbed by the
kids' behavior. Kraig zeros in on someone's grandmother in
line.
KRAIG
You! Take it off!
59 INT. MR. GRIFFIN'S OFFICE -- NIGHT 59
Mr. Griffin escorts Miranda Shelly into his office, followed
by Melvin and Dick Johnson.
MIRANDA SHELLY
I heard 102 offered you a promotional
deal. Our sales people are way too
greedy for that. Plus, being a newer
station and all... frankly I'm a
little surprised you went with us,
Mr. Griffin.
As Miranda Shelly opens a silver case and pulls out a slim
cigarette, Mr. Griffin reaches over to light it.
MR. GRIFFIN
Yes, well... 102 didn't really have
what I was looking for.
Miranda Shelly snaps her cigarette case shut and shoves it
back into her pocket.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Well... can't blame you there. Our
demographics are actually perfect
for your customer base. What's really
exciting though, are our
psychographics. The way the polls
are heading, our analysts are
projecting nearly seventy percent...
Mr. Griffin's phone is ringing. Miranda Shelly pauses,
noticing a smirk on Mr. Griffin's face.
MR. GRIFFIN
Move up from sales?
MIRANDA SHELLY
That obvious?
Mr. Griffin grins as he picks up the phone.
MR. GRIFFIN
(into phone)
Yeah? Uh huh.
Melvin marvels at a spot-lit zombie mannequin, tied up and
bound inside a rusty cage in the corner.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
38.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
(into phone)
Well, tell her we're real sorry she
got so scared, but it's a haunted
house. What did she expect?
MELVIN
Damn, this thing looks... real.
DICK JOHNSON
Don't touch it, idiot.
MR. GRIFFIN
(into phone)
Well, alright then, tell her we'll
buy her a new pair of pants. Alright.
Mr. Griffin hangs up the phone.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Damn customers. Bleedin' me dry.
Mr. Griffin takes notice of Melvin's fascination with the
ghoul.
DICK JOHNSON
I said don't touch it! Retard!
MR. GRIFFIN
That's one of my earliest props, Mr.
Melvin. Rather poorly made, really.
This guy was on stage with me in my
first traveling fright show.
Mr. Griffin points to an old poster on the wall reading B.D.
Griffin's Grand Theater of Illusion and featuring a young,
but extremely confident Griffin as the group stares in
amazement.
MIRANDA SHELLY
You look so... young.
MR. GRIFFIN
Fifteen, in that photo. I've always
been the king of scream, Ms. Shelly.
Mr. Griffin munches on his cigar with pride.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
And I always will be.
Melvin pulls a flier for the haunted house from his pocket
and waves it around.
MELVIN
What's the deal with this flier? It
says there's two haunted houses here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
39.
MIRANDA SHELLY
This second, more elaborate house...
Will we have access to that as well?
MR. GRIFFIN
Necrophobia.
MELVIN
Holy shit, you mean like... fucking
dead people?!
Melvin looks curiously excited by the prospect. Mr. Griffin
is not amused.
MR. GRIFFIN
No, not like fucking dead people.
That's necro-philia. Necro-phobia
means... Fear of the dead.
DICK JOHNSON
(whispers)
Dumbass.
MR. GRIFFIN
It's more of a museum, really. At
any rate, that area is... not quite
ready yet.
MELVIN
Yeah, yeah, but what's in it? Says
here, unspeakable evil on display...
sights of carnage and suffering from
beyond the grave...
DICK JOHNSON
Let's see it.
As Melvin speaks, Mr. Griffin fondles a curtain hanging along
the back wall of his office.
MELVIN
And this is great, witness hideous
freaks the likes of which have never
been seen! Better than animatronics -
NecroTronics! What the hell is
NecroTronics?
Mr. Griffin grins as he continues to fondle the curtain.
DICK JOHNSON
See, this is the right idea. This
politically correct spook house crap
everybody's doing now days is for
shit.
MIRANDA SHELLY
P.C. is out. It's all about sex and
violence these days. It's like the
seventies all over again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
40.
DICK JOHNSON
Yeah, see, I remember when haunted
houses were actually scary. Dangerous,
offensive, gory... you know, fun.
MR. GRIFFIN
Well, Necrophobia is anything but
politically correct.
MELVIN
Hey, if there's blood and guts and
crap like that... we are all over
that shit!
Mr. Griffin yanks the curtain down to reveal a publicity
poster for Necrophobia, featuring blood and guts realistic
enough to churn the stomachs of even the jaded deejays.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Oh my... god...
DICK JOHNSON
Wow. That's fucked up.
MIRANDA SHELLY
I'm gonna go... round up the guys.
As Miranda Shelly leaves, Mr. Griffin marvels at his
masterpiece and grins.
MR. GRIFFIN
Always gets the same reaction.
Melvin stands transfixed on the poster.
MELVIN
Hey... can I get one of those for my
house?
Dick Johnson yanks Melvin out of the office. Mr. Griffin
grins and places his cigar in his mouth with a grin.
MR. GRIFFIN
Time to frighten the masses.
60 EXT. PARKING LOT -- NIGHT 60
Teenagers and college kids file through a massive gate. Sexy
girls in black dance seductively in cages flanking the
entrance as hard rock music blasts from giant speakers and
giant flames shoot fifty feet into the air.
As the line of customers files into the haunted house, D.
Toxic steps in with his posse Bunny and Samurai, and the
exotic beauty Khleopatra.
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
Hey, you guys don't have any weapons
on you, do you? No Knives or anything?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
41.
KHLEOPATRA
Y'all need to step, alright! Do y'all
rocket surgeons know who this is?!
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
Ma'am, there's no weapons allowed,
that goes for everybody.
KHLEOPATRA
Well, my man ain't everybody! My man
is Darian Talon! As in the son of
senator Talon! And you think he
carryin'weapons up in here?
D. TOXIC
'Salright, Khleopatra. Little man's
just doin' his job.
D. Toxic looks back at his crew.
D. TOXIC (CONT'D)
You guys got any knives or anything?
BUNNY
We ain't got no knives.
D. Toxic looks back to Teen Employee #2.
D. TOXIC
See? We ain't got no knives.
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
OK, then.
Mr. Griffin strolls into the courtyard and steps up onto a
platform. He slips on a headset and fiddles with the controls
as he takes stock of the crowd. He begins to deliver his
speech over the booming sound system.
MR. GRIFFIN
(shouts into headset)
That's right, ladies and gentlemen!
Step right up to terror, because
it's that time again! Time for the
kiddies to go home. Time for the
real men to show us what they're
made of. Time to experience the most
terrifying... the most shocking...
the most blood-curdling time you've
ever had! It is... that time again!
Unimaginable horror from beyond the
grave, ladies and gentleman, that is
not only what I offer you but it is
what I guarantee... the greatest
vision of undead horror you will
ever see. The most hollowed moans
and screams from the afterlife you
will ever hear! The closest to death
you will ever feel!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
42.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Until... that is... until your time
comes. And you never know, my
friends... tonight just may be...
your time!
Jerrod stands nearby, mesmerized and disturbed by Mr.
Griffin's speech. Gathering his tools, Jerrod slowly returns
to his work.
61 EXT. PARKING LOT - RADIO VAN -- NIGHT 61
As the van sits parked in front of the haunted house, a giant
antenna rises from the back and towers into the sky.
62 INT. RADIO VAN -- NIGHT 62
Radio Tech #1 sits at a glowing switchboard with a high-tech
headset and coordinates with Radio Tech #2 who sits in the
back hunched over another station.
RADIO TECH #1
We have link-up.
RADIO TECH #2
Signal's clean. We go live in ten.
Radio Tech #2 pulls down his headset and turns to Radio Tech
#1.
RADIO TECH #2 (CONT'D)
So, what now?
RADIO TECH #1
Now? Show time.
63 INT. WEREWOLF ROOM -- NIGHT 63
A giant animatronic werewolf crashes through the wall and
Sandra Storm lets out a bloodcurdling scream, leaping into
the arms of Dick Johnson as they all conduct their live
broadcast from within the haunted house. Randy Rage appears
a bit miffed.
MELVIN
Whoa, I thought the great Sandra
Storm had no fear.
DICK JOHNSON
Don't worry baby, Dick Johnson's
gotcha.
SANDRA STORM
Oh yeah, that makes me feel much
better. I just want everyone out
there to know, there's more than one
werewolf in this room right now!
Randy Rage covers his headset mic to whisper in Sandra Storm's
ear.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
43.
RANDY RAGE
(whispers)
You're a slut when your drunk.
Sandra Storm covers her headset mic as well, and answers
Randy Rage.
SANDRA STORM
(whispers)
You're a prick when your not.
Sandra Storm spins around in a huff and runs into Robbie,
shoving him aside and going around him. Robbie looks over
to Randy Rage and covers his mic.
ROBBIE
(whispers)
Problems?
RANDY RAGE
(whispers)
No shit, Bob.
ROBBIE
(whispers)
You shouldn't let her do that to
you.
As the group moves on, the other deejays continue with the
broadcast.
64 INT. WRAITH ROOM -- NIGHT 64
MELVIN
I knew a guy who got bit by a
platypus. He was a wereplatypus.
True story.
DICK JOHNSON
Shaddup Melvin.
MELVIN
See, if I could be anything, I'd be
a werecucumber.
SANDRA STORM
Melvin, you are officially on crack.
MELVIN
Hey, have you checked out the produce
sections? It's all lonely divorcees
and widows. Those damn cucumbers are
getting a hell of a lot more action
than I am on any given night, I assure
you!
SANDRA STORM
So, you're saying you're jealous...
of a vegetable?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
44.
MELVIN
Hey, I'm not proud. All I'm sayin'
is, I could go for some of that
cucumber action... if you know what
I mean! I'd just be scared that after
she had her way with me, you know,
she might eat me.
DICK JOHNSON
Aww jeez, Melvin.
MELVIN
What?! I just mean that... if I'm
not careful, you know... I might end
up in her salad...
DICK JOHNSON
Oh... for god's sake!
MELVIN
...and that's the last thing I want,
is to be all up in some old lady's
salad.
65 INT. FRANKENSTEIN ROOM -- NIGHT 65
The deejays wonder in, generally oblivious to their
surroundings.
DICK JOHNSON
Kill it, Melvin! Just kill it!
SANDRA STORM
OK, I'm done with the Melvin subject.
As the deejays jabber on, a nearby animatronic Frankenstein
rises from his table, turning his head toward them and
moaning. No one seems to notice.
SANDRA STORM (CONT'D)
Moving on... I want to hear more
about Dick.
DICK JOHNSON
Oh, I bet you do, Sandra.
SANDRA STORM
Have you ever done it in a haunted
house?
Dick Johnson jerks his head to Sandra Storm as he suddenly
begins to fumble with his headset. Kraig and Stew burst into
laughter. Randy Rage rolls his eyes.
66 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 66
Mr. Joad stands with Mr. Griffin at an array of video monitors
and surveys the chaotic group of deejays.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
45.
MR. JOAD
This is ridiculous. They're ignoring
the whole show! They might as well
be broadcasting outta the fuckin'
back yard!
MR. GRIFFIN
Doesn't matter.
MR. JOAD
Didn't you pay good money for them?
Mr. Griffin drags on his cigar. He blows the smoke in Mr.
Joad's face and throws him a wink. He leaves the room. Mr.
Joad is left with a befuddled look on his face. He turns his
attention to the small radio tuned into the live broadcast.
MELVIN (V.O.)
I thought this was supposed to be
scary!
Mr. Joad becomes incensed.
67 INT. HAUNTED BEDROOM -- NIGHT 67
As the crowd makes their way into a new effect room, they
take notice of a zombie girl lying in a bed.
DICK JOHNSON
Hey Melvin, there's your new
girlfriend. C'mon, make your move
stud, she's already in bed!
MELVIN
Hey baby, whatcha wearing under those
sheets?
Melvin begins to step over the dividing rope toward the bed.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
I am not above necrophilia! C'mon
my sweet, puss-filled, maggot muffin,
you and me!
SANDRA STORM
Oh, god. Melvin, don't crawl over
the...
Suddenly, the animatronic zombie girl mechanically flies out
of the bed at incredible speed and wooshes over Melvin's
head, just barely missing his face. Melvin is knocked to
the floor in shock. Everyone else jumps back and screams,
tumbling all over each other.
68 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 68
A finger passes over a glowing switchboard and flicks a switch
downward.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
46.
69 INT. HAUNTED BEDROOM -- NIGHT 69
The zombie girl suddenly retracts back to her bed, and Sandra
Storm and Dick Johnson look at each other, laughing in an
obviously flirtatious manner. Melvin finally sits up again.
MELVIN
(gasping for breath)
Could somebody... feel my pants?
Cause I... I think I wet 'em.
70 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 70
Mr. Joad stands alone over the dim light of the video monitor,
staring at the fallen Melvin.
MR. JOAD
(mumbling)
Yeah. Yeah, you're scared now, aren't
ya? You little shit.
71 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 71
Melvin takes off his headset and takes a seat on the porch,
wiping the sweat from his forehead.
MIRANDA SHELLY
OK, that's commercial everyone.
Good job, people. Very...
Randy Rage takes his headset off and tosses up into the air
behind him, storming over to the steps and plopping down
next to Melvin and Robbie.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
...Professional.
Jesse Chase walks up to Randy Rage with an innocent grin.
JESSE CHASE
You having fun with your first remote
job?
RANDY RAGE
Yeah, I'm so happy I could just shit.
A group of teen customers enter the room. As they pass the
105 group, Kraig zeroes in on a hot young girl in red and
makes eye contact, raising his eyebrow in a cocky manner.
She throws back a playful grin. Her boyfriend inches up behind
her, throws his arm around her, and gives Kraig the evil eye
as he nudges the other teens forward.
KRAIG
(singing softly)
Hey there little red riding hood...
Dick Johnson whispers something into Sandra Storm's ear and
she starts to giggle. He does it again and she cracks up,
punching him hard on the arm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
47.
Robbie and Randy Rage watch the display.
ROBBIE
She's making a fool out of you.
The two stare at the spectacle for a moment longer.
ROBBIE (CONT'D)
You can't trust her.
RANDY RAGE
Shut up, Robbie! Jesus.
Randy Rage stands up and storms out of the room. Sandra Storm
rolls her eyes. She pats her knees, stands up, and sighs.
SANDRA STORM
Well, I'm gonna go see if there's a
little girls room somewhere.
MIRANDA SHELLY
There should be one...
Miranda searches around the room. The lights flicker
nervously as the power begins to blink in and out.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Wasn't there a guide or something?
MELVIN
Crocodile ate him.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Right. Did somebody get one of those
maps?
SANDRA STORM
Thanks Miranda, I'm just gonna wing
it.
Sandra Storm takes off. Dick Johnson peers back to see her
go as Miranda Shelly shouts back at her.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Don't get lost, we're back on in six
and a half! And don't turn off your
headset!
Miranda Shelly glances down at Kraig and Stew on the steps
just as Stew hands Kraig a freshly rolled joint. Kraig
suddenly brushes his hair to the side, hiding the joint behind
his ear in the process.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
You two enjoying yourselves?
KRAIG
Oh yeah.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
48.
STEW
Thank you. Ma'am. Very much so.
Suddenly, the lights go out completely.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Umm...
MELVIN
Help, mommy!
JESSE CHASE
Guys? What just happened here?
72 EXT. GENERATOR AREA -- NIGHT 72
Jerrod runs up to the generator with a flashlight in one
hand and a can of gasoline in the other.
BUFERD (V.O.)
What the hell's goin' on, boy?!
Jerrod grabs his radio.
JERROD
I'm on it!
Jerrod empties the gas can into the tank and lets it rip.
The motor starts up, but the lights fail to come back on.
Jerrod grabs his radio again.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Generator's on... I don't get it.
There must be a break in the line
somewhere. Maybe somewhere on the
inside.
73 INT. BUFERD'S ROOM -- NIGHT 73
Buferd waves his flashlight as he makes his way into his
room.
BUFERD
Well take your tools and shit and
track the fucking problem down! It
ain't safe like this!
74 EXT. GENERATOR AREA -- NIGHT 74
JERROD
Right.
Jerrod clicks off his radio and hangs it on his belt in
frustration. He puts his head in his hands for a moment and
notices his hands are shaking.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
49.
75 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 75
Jerrod stands at the mouth of a dark hallway leading into
the pitch black haunted house, staring into it as if he were
standing at the edge of a great abyss.
76 INT. BUFERD'S ROOM -- NIGHT 76
Twin doors open to reveal Buferd's face staring into an
enormous cabinet as he raises his flashlight to reveal an
impressive collection of firepower. He quickly grabs a shotgun
from the top and slams the doors.
77 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 77
The dim, red glow of a nearby emergency light barely
illuminates the way for Sandra Storm as she makes her way
down the hall. Feeling her way along, she suddenly runs her
hand across another hand and leaps back in fright. Randy
Rage turns his face into the light and stares back at her.
RANDY RAGE
You having fun making an ass outta
me?
SANDRA STORM
Dammit, Randy, it's Radio. What do
you want? We're supposed to cut up
and flirt with each other, that's
the job!
RANDY RAGE
Yeah, fuck the job.
78 INT. DARK CELL -- NIGHT 78
An undead creature lifts its gaze high as sounds of a heated
discussion penetrate from above. Shuffling boots break the
thin streaks of dim red light emanating from the gaps between
the floorboards above.
SANDRA STORM (V.O.)
I told you radio wasn't your gig.
You're just pissed because they won't
spin your band.
RANDY RAGE (V.O.)
You think I give a shit?
79 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 79
SANDRA STORM
It's like I said to begin with, they
don't care if you're Randy Rage or
Rodger fucking Dodger, if they don't
like it, they don't play it!
RANDY RAGE
OK, who's they?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
50.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
Are we talkin' about them? Or are we
talkin' about you here?
SANDRA STORM
Randy! Randy... look... I love
your band. You know that. I used
to worship you guys!
Sandra Storm moves close to Randy Rage, taking his hand in
hers and trying to endear herself to him.
SANDRA STORM (CONT'D)
C'mon, that's how we met, isn't it?
Randy Rage gives a slightly sarcastic nod.
SANDRA STORM (CONT'D)
It's just not what they consider...
marketable.
RANDY RAGE
Yeah anyway, speaking of markets,
uh... I thought we were supposed to
be off the market.
SANDRA STORM
Oh, this is about him.
RANDY RAGE
Don't act like you don't want him.
What girl doesn't want Dick?
SANDRA STORM
You're not funny.
RANDY RAGE
Hey, fuck it. Life's short. You want
him? Go get him.
SANDRA STORM
Randy... you think I don't take this
relationship seriously?
RANDY RAGE
Yeah, and what relationship is that?
Randy Rage begins to walk back down the hall.
SANDRA STORM
Randy... Randy! You don't mean that.
RANDY RAGE
Oh yeah, you got my number.
As Randy Rage disappears into the darkness, Dick Johnson
peers around the corner, feeling his way along, and spots
Sandra Storm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
51.
DICK JOHNSON
Hey.
Sandra Storm rolls her eyes and shakes her head.
80 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 80
Randy Rage walks through the darkness. He slows down, peers
behind him, and begins to ponder as he comes to a stop and
turns slowly around to face the way he came.
81 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 81
Dick Johnson stands over Sandra Storm.
DICK JOHNSON
What is it?
SANDRA STORM
It's just, Randy...
DICK JOHNSON
Don't tell me. You broke up... again.
SANDRA STORM
He's just stressed out about the
band. I told him deejays don't make
those decisions anymore. He just...
he...
DICK JOHNSON
Uh huh. You act like the two of you
are married.
She rolls her eyes.
DICK JOHNSON (CONT'D)
Like a guy like that would ever marry
anybody.
He turns to stare into her eyes.
DICK JOHNSON (CONT'D)
Especially a slut like you.
He lights up a cigarette and blows the smoke in her face.
She begins to stumble back down the corridor in her drunken
stupor.
She pauses. Indecisive.
She spins around toward Dick Johnson and the two suddenly
explode into throws of passion as she slams him against the
wall and rips off his jacket. He suddenly grabs her by the
hips and pins her against the opposite wall, breaking the
radio hanging on her belt. As he raises her body above his,
she wraps her legs around him and lays into him with heavy
kisses.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
52.
82 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 82
The deejays panic amongst each other by the flickering light
of Miranda Shelly's lighter. Miranda Shelly grabs her radio.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Sandra? Sandra! Hello?
MELVIN
OK, this isn't goddamn funny anymore!
MIRANDA SHELLY
Everyone just calm down!
JESSE CHASE
Is someone smoking marijuana?
MELVIN
Don't they have someone to fix this
kind of crap?
83 INT. COFFIN ROOM -- NIGHT 83
Jerrod traverses an effect room, jumping at every noise and
aiming his flashlight around constantly to assure that he is
truly alone. As he locates a small power box, he flips the
hatch open to reveal mangled wiring. Slipping on a pair of
gloves, taking out a couple of tools, and sticking one in
his mouth for the time being, Jerrod begins to fool with the
wiring inside of the box. Jerrod witnesses a shadow crawling
up the wall and holding one of the power lines, pressing it
to its mouth as if chewing on it. As the shadow chews, a
slight pop rings out of the power box. Jerrod waves his
flashlight toward the shadow and it is quickly frightened
away. Jerrod begins to work with the wiring again. He makes
another connection and the room is lit up for a split second.
Suddenly, the hatch to a nearby coffin swings open and a
zombie mannequin bursts out at incredible speed, flying across
the room and smashing into the ceiling just inches from
Jerrod's face. The lights dim out again and Jerrod falls to
the floor. After catching his second wind, Jerrod sticks his
pliers back in his teeth and draws himself up to try again.
84 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 84
The deejays remain gathered around the light of Miranda
Shelly's lighter.
MELVIN
False alarm.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Wait, I think they're coming back on
again.
Miranda Shelly suddenly drops her lighter, having become too
hot to hold any longer.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Shit!

85 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 85
Sandra Storm falls against the wall, taking a moment to breath
as Dick Johnson searches his unbuckled jeans for a condom.
DICK JOHNSON
Got my little Johnny space helmet in
here somewhere...
Dick Johnson fumbles about in his pockets for a moment longer
without success.
DICK JOHNSON (CONT'D)
Fuck!
SANDRA STORM
Dick. This is a little impulsive.
DICK JOHNSON
What? What are you talking about?
SANDRA STORM
God... it's just.. you know, Randy
and I...
Dick Johnson leans forward, getting into Sandra Storm's face.
DICK JOHNSON
What? What Randy? Look sweety...
SANDRA STORM
(sarcastic)
Sweety?
DICK JOHNSON
Yeah, you don't get a guy all revved
up, and then just fucking yank out
the key! That ain't how it works.
SANDRA STORM
How it... what!?
Dick Johnson gives his pocket a final tug and slowly holds
up the condom.
DICK JOHNSON
You know what I mean?
SANDRA STORM
Dick, what do I look like to you?
DICK JOHNSON
What? You look like a dirty little
whore who want's to get fucked in
the rectory like a catholic
schoolgirl...
SANDRA STORM
Oh Christ, bye Dick!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
54.
Disgusted by Dick Johnson's arrogance, Sandra Storm turns
and walks away.
DICK JOHNSON
What? I get all fuckin' mushy and
you take off, that's great! What is
it you wanna hear, anyway?
He struggles to gather up his shirt and everything he dropped.
DICK JOHNSON (CONT'D)
(mumbles)
Goddamn, there's no pleasing some
women.
DICK JOHNSON (CONT'D)
Oh, you know what, fine... run back
to Randy. So he can dump your ass
again... stupid bitch.
Sandra Storm stops and turns around.
SANDRA STORM
I'm not running to anyone!
As Sandra Storm turns back around and continues down the
hall, Dick Johnson leans against the wall and zips his pants
back up. The lights slowly come back on and Dick Johnson
mumbles to himself.
DICK JOHNSON
About fucking time.
As he attempts to replace the headset around his head, a
dark, Hooded Figure suddenly appears from behind and knocks
the headset off of his head, startling Dick Johnson and
sending him crashing to the floor. With black gloved hands,
the Hooded Figure reaches into his coat and produces a
strange, mangled object with springs and nails jutting from
every side. Mounted on the tip is a small, silver, ornamental
angel with a missing wing. With a twitch of his wrist, the
Hooded Figure causes a curved, rusty blade to flip out from
the handle of the object like a switchblade. The Hooded Figure
stands over Dick Johnson, a silhouette of the grim reaper
himself, and with his sickle-like weapon strikes a blow to
Dick Johnson's stomach, holding it for a moment before
violently ripping it out. Dick Johnson squeals and crawls
helplessly across the floor. The Hooded Figure watches as he
follows the trail of blood with morbid curiosity.
86 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- NIGHT 86
An exit sign dangles above the door as it swings slowly open
and Dick Johnson pulls himself inside, hoping for refuge. As
he crawls up a set of steps in the back of the room, he turns
slowly around to see the Hooded Figure follow him inside.
Dick Johnson tries to crawl faster, but at the top he finds
only a locked hatch in the floor and no exit in sight.
Suddenly, the Hooded Figure's weapon hammers down from above,
slamming into the floor beside him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
55.
Dick Johnson dodges repeated blows as the Hooded Figure makes
quick work of the hatch in the floor, bashing it to pieces.
As Dick Johnson turns around and attempts to crawl to safety,
the sickle slices down into his back, pinning him to the
floor. After a moment, the Hooded Figure removes his weapon
once again. Dick Johnson stares somberly into the dark unknown
of the now open pit as his conscience begins to fade away.
With another sudden blow, the Hooded Figure slams his blade
into the side of Dick Johnson's neck, sending the tip jutting
out of the left side. With his weapon firmly in place, the
Hooded Figure rests his boot on Dick Johnson's back and wedges
the blade downward until it rips through the back of his
neck, severing his spinal cord. Blood sprays through the
air as the head of Dick Johnson falls into the pit along
with his life's blood as it pours freely from his open throat.
87 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 87
With the lights back on, the deejays scramble as they attempt
to gain control of their broadcast once more.
MIRANDA SHELLY
OK people, lets hurry up! We have a
show to do here! Where the hell is
Dick?
Melvin takes a look around the nearly empty room.
MELVIN
Where the hell is everybody?
88 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 88
Randy Rage stands in a dark hallway. He turns his head to a
noise down another hall and quietly moves toward it.
89 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 89
As Sandra Storm tries to find her way back to the group, she
seems to hear something behind her.
SANDRA STORM
Guys? Is that you? Anybody?
She fiddles with her broken radio.
SANDRA STORM (CONT'D)
My radio is screwed up! I think I'm
walking in fucking circles here!
As she presses on, a dark figure hides nearby watching her.
The dark figure steps into the hallway behind her, slowly
reaching back to draw a hood over his head.
CUT TO:
Sandra Storm notices a red, glowing exit sign in the distance
and begins moving toward it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
56.
90 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- NIGHT 90
Sandra Storm slowly opens the door and walks toward the hatch,
taking notice of Dick Johnson lying on the steps.
SANDRA STORM
Hello? Who is that? Jesus, Dick?
What the hell are you doing?
Sandra Storm kneels down on the steps, still unaware that
Dick Johnson is dead. As her hand nears the bloody throat,
the door swings open and the Hooded Figure bursts into the
room. Sandra Storm jumps back, tripping over the body and
falling on top of the broken hatch. The Hooded Figure walks
up the steps, grabbing the headless body and yanking it up
off the steps. Sandra Storm screams at the sight as the Hooded
Figure tosses the body aside and grabs her feet, pulling her
down the steps. As she rolls over to see her attacker, the
mysterious Hooded Figure whips out his sickle and pops open
the blade. Sandra Storm lets out a deafening scream as he
swings it down upon her. As a reflex action, she catches
his arm and fights with him over the weapon. She manages to
grab at his obscured face. He jumps back, dropping his sickle.
He then lurches forward again and grabs her by the collar,
throwing her back onto the hatch. He climbs up and begins to
strangle here.
SANDRA STORM (CONT'D)
Wait! No! Wait!
The Hooded Figure bashes her head down upon the fractured
hatch until it finally gives way, sending her toppling inside.
91 INT. GIMP CELLAR -- NIGHT 91
Sandra Storm falls down into the pit. She struggles to pull
herself up using what little strength she has left.
92 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- NIGHT 92
The Hooded Figure struggles to balance himself over the open
hatch. He stares down into the darkness, trying to see Sandra
Storm.
93 INT. GIMP CELLAR -- NIGHT 93
Sandra Storm pulls herself partially up. She takes notice of
a dark shape nearby. It is Dick Johnson's head. She is frozen.
Suddenly, Dick Johnson's eyes dart over to stare right back
at her.
SANDRA STORM
Sh... shit!
She lurches back to notice other shapes moving around in the
shadows. She lets out a shriek.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
57.
94 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- NIGHT 94
The Hooded Figure scrambles for his sickle at the bottom of
the steps. Sandra Storm's face suddenly emerges from the
open hatch, screaming for her life.
SANDRA STORM
God... help!
The Hooded Figure notices her, draws himself slowly to his
feet, and stomps back up the steps in a fit of rage with his
sickle raised high. As she scrambles to try and draw herself
out, a hand grabs hold of her ankle from below and yanks her
back inside. The Hooded Figure jumps in surprise. After a
moment of staring down into the motionless pitch of the Gimp
Cellar in puzzlement, the Hooded Figure is startled once
again at the sight of Sandra Storm bursting back out and
flailing for her life.
SANDRA STORM (CONT'D)
Help! Please! Oh, God! Help me!
As he watches, the Hooded Figure slowly stretches a length
of duct tape, places it over her mouth, and slowly presses
her face back down into the darkness as the ghouls below
seem to devour her alive. As she vanishes into the pitch,
the Hooded Figure backs slowly away from the hatch, marveling
in amazement at the evil he may have just unwittingly
released.
95 INT. WRAITH ROOM -- NIGHT 95
Lisa slowly creeps out from a dark corridor. She moves
carefully through the empty room, turning back to check the
hall she came from.
LISA
Gregory! It's been two hours! Dammit,
Gregory!
Lisa stops to check around her in all directions. She begins
to loose hope of finding her nephew.
LISA (CONT'D)
You think I won't leave you here?
A shadowy figure creeps up slowly behind her. As she backs
into it, Lisa jumps back and screams, falling into a corner.
As she looks up, she sees that it was only a dummy dressed
as a wraith.
LISA (CONT'D)
I don't suppose there's a person in
there? Of course not.
Lisa draws herself to her feet and makes her way down another
hallway. Suddenly, Randy Rage turns a corner and runs directly
into her. Too startled to speak, Lisa stares at him as he
rudely dusts himself off and heads on down the hallway.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
58.
Out of energy, Lisa simply plops down on the floor as she
feels around for her cigarettes.
LISA (CONT'D)
Asshole convention.
96 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 96
Randy Rage comes huffing into the room as the other deejays
sit in frustration.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Randy! Where the hell is Dick?!
RANDY RAGE
Head down in the gutter, maybe?
MELVIN
(mumbles)
Yeah, or your girlfriend's cunt.
RANDY RAGE
Alright that's it!
Randy Rage lurches toward Melvin.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Randy!!
Miranda Shelly stares down Randy Rage as he slowly concedes.
MELVIN
This guy's a fuckin' maniac.
JESSE CHASE
Hey I know, why don't you put me on?
Melvin and I could riff, it'll be
really great!
MELVIN
Sweety, don't fuckin' kid yourself.
JESSE CHASE
Excuse me, I have taken comedy writing
courses, I will have you know!
Miranda Shelly takes out her cell phone and begins to press
buttons.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Don't worry Jesse, you're going on
in sixty.
JESSE CHASE
Really?
MIRANDA SHELLY
Yep. Here's your copy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
59.
She hands Jesse Chase her cell phone with a news bulletin
email displayed. Jesse Chase hangs her shoulders.
JESSE CHASE
(disappointed)
Great.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Where's Loco Bob?
Robbie steps out from the corner.
ROBBIE
Right here, ma'am.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Alright Bobbie...
ROBBIE
Robbie.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Right. Listen, I need you to go look
for Dick. We'll all stay right here,
OK? I just need you to find him.
ROBBIE
OK.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Does your radio work?
Miranda Shelly fiddles with her radio.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Can you hear this?
Robbie presses a button on his radio.
ROBBIE
Yeah, I hear ya.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Great. Go!
As Robbie heads out, Miranda talks into her headset and
continues.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
And try to find Sandra while you're
at it!
97 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 97
As Robbie makes his way down the hall, he grabs his radio.
ROBBIE
You got it ma'am.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
60.
Robbie looks around in all directions as he feels his way
through the pitch corridor. His eyes dart around uselessly
as he listens for signs of the other deejays. He looks back.
Something seems to be following him.
98 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 98
Miranda Shelly sighs and turns back toward the others to see
Melvin and Randy Rage standing stubbornly at opposite sides
of the room. Jesse Chase sits on the steps preparing for her
news cast.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Well that's... almost everyone.
99 INT. HAUNTED KITCHEN -- NIGHT 99
Kraig sits on the floor under the table, puffing on a badly
rolled joint as Stew digs through the refrigerator behind
him.
KRAIG
C'mon Stew, just grab anything! I'm
hungry, dammit!
STEW
This food ain't real! This fridge is
just fuckin' with us, man!
KRAIG
Shhhh! Somebody's coming! Oh shit
it's her... I know it... C'mon sweety.
The two perk up to listen. From the darkness of the hall, we
hear a metallic clicking along with a strange, dragging sound.
KRAIG (CONT'D)
(singing)
Hottie in reeeed... is freakin' with
meeee...
Dark hall. FLASH of LENNY'S steel-plated face.
100 INT. HAUNTED BEDROOM -- NIGHT 100
Robbie creeps through the room, checking around corners and
trying to keep his bearing through the confusing corridors.
The usual haunted house noises seem to have grown louder and
more chaotic. Robbie grows paranoid. He becomes short of
breath. He starts feeling around for an exit. He notices a
door ahead. He looks behind him as he approaches the door.
Suddenly, the door swings open and slams him in the face. He
falls to the floor with a THUD.
He gazes up through bleary eyes to see Lisa standing over
him.
LISA
Hey! Are you OK?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
61.
He lies on the floor with an aching eye, a bloody nose and a
perplexed look.
LISA (CONT'D)
You know where the office is?
101 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 101
Jerrod shakes his map of the facility and flattens it out.
JERROD
Ballroom, Dungeon Room, there's no
exits in this stupid place...
He begins to hyper ventilate. The room is spinning. He drops
to his knees. His hands begin to shake as he folds them
under his arms and struggles to breath fluidly. As he sits,
he feels a strange sense of foreboding from behind him. He
slowly turns to the awesome sight of the Necrophobia entrance,
towering above him. He gazes up at the enormous NECROPHOBIA
banner.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Ho-ly-crap.
A voice comes suddenly from behind him.
GREGORY
What's your problem?
Jerrod spins around in surprise.
JERROD
You scared the shit outta me!
GREGORY
You're not supposed to curse around
children, didn't you know that?
JERROD
No, you're... you're absolutely right.
GREGORY
Don't worry, I get cursed at a lot.
My aunt's really mean.
Gregory takes out a pack of cigarettes.
JERROD
What, does she buy you cigarettes,
too?
GREGORY
Naa, I just sneak a pack out of her
carton when she runs about halfway
out.
Jerrod takes the pack of cigarettes out of Gregory's hands.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
62.
JERROD
Yeah, well, kids aren't supposed to
smoke, so as long as we're playing
by the rules here...
After motioning to throw them away, he has second thoughts
and slips them into his own pocket.
GREGORY
Oh, I get it. It's OK for you to
smoke.
JERROD
Exactly.
JERROD pulls out a cigarette and searches for his lighter.
GREGORY
Those'll kill ya, you know.
JERROD pauses. Looks at his cigarette with an Uh oh
expression.
102 INT. HAUNTED BEDROOM -- NIGHT 102
Lisa plops down on the bed between the zombie girl mannequin
and Robbie, who sits in a daze.
LISA
Yep. Got a little scratch there.
Right by your eye.
Lisa dabs a bit of blood from Robbie's eye.
ROBBIE
Ow!
LISA
Wow, you can talk and fall down. You
should take that act on the road.
ROBBIE
My nose hurts, too.
LISA
Yeah, well you can handle that one
yourself.
ROBBIE
Ouch!
LISA
Jesus, you're a baby. Sit still.
Robbie's headset buzzes.
MIRANDA SHELLY (V.O.)
Robbie!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
63.
ROBBIE
Yeah. Y... yes ma'am?
MIRANDA SHELLY (V.O.)
Did you find him?
ROBBIE
No, ma'am. I'm... I'm tryin'.
LISA
Who was that?
ROBBIE
That's my boss, Ms. Shelly.
LISA
Your boss? You work here?
Robbie pulls his jacket aside to reveal a press pass with
the "105 - The Diamond" logo.
LISA (CONT'D)
What are you a deejay or something?
ROBBIE
Yeah... no... I mean, no I used to
answer the phones for 'em... one day
this man upstairs come down and say
he liked the way I talk, so he put
me on the air.
LISA
Yeah, that's great. Hold still.
ROBBIE
Aren't you with nobody? This place
is scary... all this blood and guts
and stuff.
LISA
That doesn't scare me.
ROBBIE
Death don't scare you?
LISA
It's a natural thing. Death is
peaceful. There's no worries. It's
life that bites you on the ass.
LISA finishes with her blotting.
LISA (CONT'D)
There, that better?
ROBBIE
Yeah.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
64.
LISA
Well, if you'll excuse me, I have a
rugrat to find. Sorry about your
face.
Lisa stands up.
ROBBIE
You got a kid?
Robbie is fascinated.
LISA
Nephew. Anyway, he's hiding from
me... somewhere.
Lisa notices Robbie's daze.
ROBBIE
He ain't got his mommy and daddy
with him?
LISA
I am his mommy and daddy... for now.
ROBBIE
What... what happened?
LISA stares at ROBBIE for a moment. Ponders whether or not
to go into her personal life with this stranger.
LISA
You don't want to hear all this.
MIRANDA SHELLY (V.O.)
Robbie! Where are you? Robbie?
Robbie switches off his radio.
LISA
They were on vacation.
Lisa sits back down on the bed.
LISA (CONT'D)
They were at this restaurant when
these men came in with guns, and
they started shouting and... my
father, apparently he tried to do
something. He was um... he was gunned
down. But first they executed my
mother. They put the gun to the back
of her head and... just... bang.
That's when my sister Angel tried to
get in the way and they shot her.
I'm not quite sure why they shot
Gregory's sisters, but I know they
shot their dad Nicky after he tried
to run out the front door. He was
the first to go.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
65.
ROBBIE
You musta been scared then.
LISA
Grounded, actually. Yeah, for running
away to Chicago with this band. Pretty
stupid. Anyway, I was stuck at home
baby sitting Gregory. That was my
punishment. Believe that?
ROBBIE
That's what they call ironic ain't
it? Like in that one song by that
lady who be runnin' around on MTV
without none of her clothes on.
Suddenly, a group of frightened teens burst into the room
screaming. Lights flash and noises screech from the speakers.
LISA
(shouts)
Anyway, he's supposed to have a great
aunt or something back in Georgia,
so as soon as I can find her...
ROBBIE
(shouts)
Why you wanna get rid of him so bad?
The girl in the bed bursts through the air, flying over the
teens heads. They hit the deck.
LISA
(shouts)
Oh, I wouldn't make a good parent.
He needs a real mother.
ROBBIE
(shouts)
Why?
LISA
(shouts)
I'm just not cut out for that sort
of thing.
The girl retracts back onto the bed. The teens scream,
scramble on the floor.
ROBBIE
(shouts)
Oh, I don't know, my momma didn't
think so neither when she had me,
but look how I turned out.
LISA
(shouts)
Yeah. Look, I'm just not sure...
The kids scramble on to the next area.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
66.
LISA (CONT'D)
I'm just not sure... how much longer
I'm going to be around.
Lisa lights up a cigarette.
ROBBIE
Are you sick?
LISA
No.
ROBBIE looks perplexed.
ROBBIE
Oh.
103 INT. SLIME PIT -- NIGHT 103
JERROD
Hey kid, I really think...
A giant crocodile bursts our and scares Jerrod half to death.
JERROD (CONT'D)
You really oughta let me help you
find your parents.
GREGORY
I'm with my aunt Lisa, I told you.
JERROD
OK, then I'm sure your aunt is very
worried about you.
GREGORY
Yeah right! She doesn't even like
me.
JERROD
Oh, come on!
GREGORY
She's trying to make me go live with
some old lady I've never even met!
Says after she drops me off, I'll
never see her again, so I shouldn't
get used to having her around.
JERROD
Really? She said that?
GREGORY
Yeah.
Gregory slides down to take a rest.
GREGORY (CONT'D)
Anyway, that's if she finds her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
67.
JERROD
Finds her?
GREGORY
Yeah, she thinks she's in Georgia. I
figure we'll be driving circles around
the Mississippi before she figures
out where I hid her old letters, and
notices they're from Atlanta,
Minnesota.
JERROD
Oh, so you think you're clever.
GREGORY
Yeah. I think I am.
JERROD
Know what I think? I think you don't
want to loose your aunt Lisa.
Jerrod kneels down to Gregory.
JERROD (CONT'D)
So maybe we should go find her.
GREGORY
She's just... she's always mad. She...
she yells.
JERROD
People get mad.
GREGORY
Sometimes she gets real quiet, too,
though. And she locks herself in the
bathroom. Sometimes all night.
Gregory takes out his lighter and fidgets with it.
GREGORY (CONT'D)
I guess we don't get much sleep.
JERROD
Ah... well, that makes three of us.
Jerrod reaches into his pocket and produces a pack of gum.
JERROD (CONT'D)
I'm an insomniac.
Gregory grins and takes a piece.
GREGORY
Yeah, I thought you were kinda weird.
Gregory stands up and dusts himself off. Jerrod unfolds his
map of the complex, and begins to study the different rooms.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
68.
GREGORY (CONT'D)
So, how do we get outta here... uh...
JERROD
Jerrod.
GREGORY
Right. Gregory.
JERROD
Well according to this... Gregory...
we uh... yeah...
GREGORY
You have no idea, do you?
Suddenly, three teenage girls run screaming into the room.
The crocodile jumps out at them and they let out another
scream as they edge slowly through to the next area.
JERROD
I guess it's uh...
GREGORY
Yeah, that way.
JERROD
Um.
Jerrod seems apprehensive about going forward.
GREGORY
OK, stick close to me, there's nothing
to be scared of.
Jerrod gives a nervous nod.
GREGORY (CONT'D)
And you work here?
104 INT. DUNGEON -- NIGHT 104
The wall bursts open and a ghoul jumps out to scare a group
of customers. More customers run through the effects scenes,
shrieking at the terrifying sights.
D. Toxic wanders the halls with his crew, cocky and confident.
105 INT. COFFIN ROOM -- NIGHT 105
D. Toxic wanders in with his crew. A Vampire Girl jumps out
from one of the coffins and hisses at them. D. Toxic starts
to caress her face.
D. TOXIC
Look at you, all dressed up in your
kinky little vampire getup. You
lookin' cute. How old are you?
The Vampire Girl grins.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
69.
VAMPIRE GIRL
Uh... eighteen.
D. TOXIC
Oh, yeah?
106 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 106
D. Toxic strolls through the halls with his crew.
BUNNY
Man, does this shit ever end?
D. TOXIC
What's wrong with you?
BUNNY
This ain't my scene. Power cut'n off
and on. Buncha crazy white muthafuckas
runnin' around in the dark. Shit got
me all on edge. I always knew I'd go
out in a dark ass, fucked up place
like this.
Khleopatra rubs Bunny's shoulders.
KHLEOPATRA
Don't you worry Bunny.
D. TOXIC
Bitch, why you gotta be all up on my
boy like that? What, you tryin' to
start some shit?
KHLEOPATRA
Bitch?! Who the hell you callin'
bitch!?
A group of teens run by as an employee dressed as a ghoul
chases them. The employee stops for a moment to stare at D.
Toxic and his crew.
D. TOXIC
What'choo looin' at, quasimoto
muthafucka?!
D. Toxic pulls the Ghoul's mask off and slaps him around.
He becomes frightened and runs off.
KHLEOPATRA
Anyway, you the one hittin' on all
them little tramps they got up in
here! Hey baby! How old are you?
What'choo doin' after the show?
D. TOXIC
I changed my mind, Bunny. You keep
her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
70.
SAMURAI
Hey... can we flip for her?
KHLEOPATRA
Fuck y'all! Fuck all y'all! Khleopatra
don't need this shit! Khleopatra can
get any damn man she want!
D. TOXIC
Yeah, whateva...
KHLEOPATRA
Oh you think I'm frontin'?
Khleopatra looks over to Samurai. He shakes his head
vigorously with a worried look.
KHLEOPATRA (CONT'D)
Well, I been fuckin' Samurai! How
you like that shit?
D. Toxic looks over to Samurai and back to Khleopatra.
D. TOXIC
You been what?!
Khleopatra smirks at him. Samurai appears terrified. D. Toxic
hangs his shoulders and takes off his sunglasses. He seems
depressed. He looks over to Bunny.
BUNNY
Hey don't look at me, I didn't fuck
nobody!
Khleopatra reaches an exit door and turns to the others. She
flips them off as a goodbye gesture.
KHLEOPATRA
Catch y'all looser muthafuckas later!
The door slides open behind her and a tall, heaving, female
creature stands over her. Khleopatra spins around and frowns.
KHLEOPATRA (CONT'D)
Get the hell outta my way, bitch!
The creature grabs Khleopatra by the throat and lifts her
into the air.
KHLEOPATRA (CONT'D)
(scratchy)
Oh... shit!
D. Toxic and his crew turn slowly around to realize what is
happening. The creature takes a bite out of Khleopatra's
neck and tosses her aside, bloody flesh hanging from its
mouth.
D. TOXIC
Oh... shit.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
71.
D. Toxic takes a pause to soak up the reality of what has
just happened.
D. TOXIC (CONT'D)
No you didn't.
D. Toxic suddenly whips his coat back and pulls out a pair
of glistening, silver pistols. Bunny and Samurai do the same.
The three men open fire on the creature and blow it away.
A huge, muscular creature appears from behind them and grabs
Samurai. The other two men blast the creature. More creatures
approach them from behind.
Lenny looks down on the chaos from above, wedged in the
structures above the walls.
107 INT. MUMMY HALLWAY -- NIGHT 107
Jerrod and Gregory stand at the mouth of a dark corridor.
GREGORY
There's nothing to fear. Nothing is
going to jump out and kill you, it's
all smoke and mirrors, right?
JERROD
(nervous)
Right. I'm cool.
They begin to creep through the narrow hall.
C/U on Jerrod's foot as he trips a sensor in the floor.
SUDDENLY, animatronic mummies burst out of the walls, lunging
and clawing. They take off screaming.
108 INT. MUMMY ROOM -- NIGHT 108
Jerrod and Gregory tumble into the mummy room, laughing
hysterically and fighting to catch their breath. As they
draw themselves up, Gregory turns his attention to a
sarcophagus in the middle of the room.
GREGORY
Hey, what's this?
Suddenly, an animatronic mummy bursts out and frightens him
into a frenzy.
JERROD
You OK?
GREGORY
I'm fine.
JERROD
Cause you looked kinda scared.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
72.
After waving around and moaning for a moment, the animatronic
mummy begins to tremble violently as sparks shoot out of his
mouth and he grinds to a halt.
GREGORY
Was it supposed to do that?
JERROD
I think it broke.
GREGORY
Well, don't they have someone to fix
stuff when it breaks?
Jerrod pulls a small screwdriver from behind his ear and
sighs.
JERROD
Uh... yeah, they do.
A voyeur peers at them from another hall.
Jerrod makes his way around to the other side and bends over
to start working on the mummy.
JERROD (CONT'D)
OK, this'll only take a minute.
Jerrod kneels to the floor behind the sarcophagus, finding a
small hatch revealing a bundle of fried wiring and begins to
work.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Hey, wanna hear a scary story?
GREGORY
About what?
JERROD
About an Egyptian curse.
Gregory looks around at all the hieroglyphics.
GREGORY
Cool!
JERROD
There was this pharaoh, right? Now,
he had ruled his kingdom for many
years with an iron fist, but his
high priest warned him of an illness
setting in. The pharaoh was
incensed...
GREGORY
He was what?
JERROD
Pissed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
73.
GREGORY
Oh.
JERROD
...because his rule was certain to
be cut short very soon and he had
intended to sit on his throne for
all eternity.
109 INT. SMALL HUT -- DAY 109
A woven blanket dangles over the doorway. Bright light streams
in. Two silhouettes sit opposite each other at a small table.
JERROD (V.O.)
So, the pharaoh ordered his high
priest to build an artifact that
would give him his eternal rule.
The figures trade pouches. One opens his to reveal the golden
Amulet of Thu-Lah. On the table are several burnt pages with
diagrams of the amulet.
GREGORY (V.O.)
How could it do that?
JERROD (V.O.)
It was an amulet, fashioned using
the ancient scrolls of Thu-Lah passed
down through the ages. It was designed
for a single purpose... it was a
warning. A warning to Anubis... a
warning to stay away!
110 INT. MUMMY ROOM -- NIGHT 110
GREGORY
Who's anu... anubi?
Jerrod leans up for a moment to stare into Gregory's eyes.
JERROD
Anubis... the god of the dead.
Gregory swallows hard and begins to shiver.
GREGORY
Oh.
JERROD
It was a trick, you see. The magic
amulet was fashioned from pure gold
to appear as a sign from the gods.
And it worked.
Jerrod kneels back down behind the sarcophagus to continue
his work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
74.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Anubis avoided the pharaoh's kingdom
out of respect for the gods... death
never came.
GREGORY
So, he got his wish?
JERROD
No... that isn't the end of the story.
111 INT. MR. GRIFFIN'S OFFICE -- NIGHT 111
Pitch black. The safe door opens to reveal Mr. Griffin's
silhouette on the other side. He pulls the Amulet of Thu-Lah
from a pouch and marvels.
JERROD (V.O.)
You see, the pharaoh got his
immortality...
112 INT. MORTONICS LAB -- NIGHT 112
Bodies lie twitching on tables with tubes running out of
their bodies, pumping out red fluids.
JERROD (V.O.)
In fact, death never came for anyone
in the kingdom. But, when a person
was mortally injured and their bodily
functions ceased...
113 INT. DARK CELL -- NIGHT 113
Lenny sits in a cage bound in a straight jacket.
JERROD (V.O.)
Their brain would begin to rot...
and they would grow mad.
Bo Jack dangles, yanking on the chains that bind him.
JERROD (V.O.) (CONT'D)
Some even... bloodthirsty.
114 INT. MUMMY ROOM -- NIGHT 114
GREGORY
Can I have those cigarettes back
now?
JERROD
Before long, the entire living
population of the kingdom had been
transformed into the walking dead,
and the pharaoh had been trapped in
his temple, cutoff from the rest of
the world.
The voyeur seems to peer down on Gregory from above.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
75.
JERROD (CONT'D)
They say, he is still there now.
Trapped in his kingdom... to rule in
fear of his own subjects... forever!
All because of a tiny, golden amulet.
GREGORY
Where do you hear all this stuff?
JERROD
I read a lot.
GREGORY
So... are all those dead people still
there? Or did some of 'em...
JERROD
Get away? Maybe.
A hidden door opens slowly behind Gregory as he stands frozen
with fear.
JERROD (CONT'D)
After so many thousands of years,
they could have gotten anywhere. In
fact... there could be one behind
you right now.
The shadowy form grabs Gregory and lifts him into the air,
suspending him for a moment before dragging him off through
the hidden door.
Lisa turns a corner at the other end of the Mummy Hall looking
somewhat confused. Jerrod sits silently behind the sarcophagus
for a moment, then lets out a chuckle.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Gotcha.
Carefully stepping over the sensor in the floor so as not to
trip the special effects, Lisa makes her way through the
corridor.
JERROD (CONT'D)
You know, I was thinking. There sure
are a lot of these sarcophagi in
here.
Lisa peers over the sarcophagus at Jerrod as he continues
his work.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Why don't we just stuff your aunt
Lisa in one of of these... you know,
I bet if we dug her up in a couple
thousand years...
Lisa puts her hands on her hips.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
76.
JERROD (CONT'D)
...she'd be all gross and gnarly,
with spiders in her ears... worms
coming out her nose...
Jerrod looks up and is startled to see Lisa standing over
him.
LISA
Were you talking to my nephew?
With a confused look on his face, Jerrod begins to look around
the room.
LISA (CONT'D)
What did you do with him? Where is
he?
Jerrod peers behind Lisa.
JERROD
Gregory? He was right there.
LISA
Where?
JERROD
Right where you're standing. Gregory!
LISA
If you hurt my nephew...
JERROD
Oh, yeah, like you care.
LISA
What the hell is that supposed to
mean?
JERROD
He probably saw you and took off.
Gregory!
LISA
Who the hell do you think you are?
Another hidden door creaks slowly open as someone watches
Jerrod and Lisa from within. Jerrod begins to search down a
dark hallway, continuing to shout for Gregory.
LISA (CONT'D)
Where are you going? For Christ
sake, he's my nephew! Gregory!
As Jerrod and Lisa take off in search of Gregory, Mr. Griffin
emerges from the secret door to watch. He then turns his
head the other direction and sets off down the hall with
grim determination.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
77.
115 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 115
The deejays pace the room as Jesse Chase delivers news copy
from a note pad.
JESSE CHASE
Thanks Rolland... we have a new report
in from the news desk, looks like
the Reaper has taken another victim,
breaking his two-month silence. Twenty-
three year old Silvana Adams was
found in her home last night.
Miranda Shelly passes Jesse Chase while talking into her
cell phone.
MIRANDA SHELLY
(into her cell phone)
We still have twenty-six minutes on
this show. No, Dick is still...
what about Jesse? We could put on
Jesse and Melvin.
Jesse Chase looks up nervously as she continues to deliver
news.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
(into her cell phone)
Please, don't pull my spot Mr. Lang.
PROGRAM MANAGER (V.O.)
Pull your spot? This is not how you
manage the talent, goddammit! You're
supposed to be a leader here! Pull
your spot... you'll be lucky if you
have a goddamn desk in the...
Miranda Shelly's phone suddenly goes dead.
MIRANDA SHELLY
(into her cell phone)
Hello? Mr. Lang?
Jesse Chase continues with her broadcast.
JESSE CHASE
...which makes thirty-eight deaths
in the past nine months of the
Reaper's rampage. Rolland? Are you
there Rolland?
Jesse Chase jiggles her radio.
JESSE CHASE (CONT'D)
Uh... I seem to be dead here.
Miranda Shelly looks up with her dead cell phone in her hands.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
78.
116 EXT. PARKING LOT -- NIGHT 116
The two radio technicians left behind lie blood-soaked and
motionless in the back of the 105 van. A mysterious figure
suddenly closes up the back, makes his way around the side,
hops into the drivers seat, and shuts the door revealing the
face of Buferd in the side mirror. Buferd sits in the driver's
seat and starts the van's engine.
117 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 117
The deejays make their way down a hallway.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Griffin assured me that we wouldn't
have any problems broadcasting through
this aluminum fucking fortress of
his. The lights are going off and on
all night... our guide's nowhere to
be seen... when I find that
sonovabitch Griffin, I'm gonna...
Miranda Shelly turns a corner and runs directly into Mr.
Griffin, who is standing at an emergency phone on the wall.
MR. GRIFFIN
(into phone)
Just one moment, sir.
Mr. Griffin covers the mouthpiece and addresses Miranda
Shelly.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
I am sorry about all the technical
difficulties, Ms. Shelly. Big storm's
brewin'. Seems the land lines are
the only thing working.
MIRANDA SHELLY
I don't care. Look, this whole night
has been nothing short of a complete
disaster! And I just want you to
know, it'll be a cold day in hell
when this station comes back out to
promote any of your attractions!
MR. GRIFFIN
Well, I... do wish you'd change your
mind, Ms. Shelly...
MIRANDA SHELLY
Oh, don't even try that. Look, I
have several people missing...
MR. GRIFFIN
Your people are waiting for you
outside, Ms. Shelly. Seems they got
themselves lost in the dark.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
79.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Fine. Just tell me how to get the
hell out of here.
MR. GRIFFIN
Well, just go on through that door
and keep heading down that hall till
you see the big exit sign. Then on
down the stairs and you're out.
There's no quicker way outta here
than that.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Goodbye... Mr. Griffin.
Miranda Shelly quietly leads the others away as she stares
at Mr. Griffin. Randy Rage locks eyes with Mr. Griffin
momentarily as well before moving on down the hall. As he
watches them go, Mr. Griffin lifts the phone to his ear once
more.
MR. GRIFFIN
(into phone)
Sorry to keep you waiting Mr. Lang.
Your radio crew tore out of here a
few minutes ago... well yeah, they
were drunk as hell. It's alright
sir, you don't worry about the money,
I'm only concerned about the safety
of your crew. These narrow mountain
roads can be a killer.
118 INT. BUFERD'S ROOM -- NIGHT 118
Buferd digs through a box full of weapons as he grabs the
phone.
MR. GRIFFIN (V.O.)
Buferd, chickens are in the coop.
Keep the jammer on and cut the land
line now.
BUFERD
(into phone)
What about the Reaper?
MR. GRIFFIN (V.O.)
He's got it in for that kid, but I
think we got him where we want him
now.
119 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 119
An exit sign glows red over a door at the far end of the
hall as Jerrod and Lisa continue their search for young
Gregory.
LISA
There's a way out.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
80.
JERROD
I don't think he left. He's probably
hiding in here somewhere.
LISA
Yeah, but maybe we can get some help.
Find the owners or something.
JERROD
Believe me, they couldn't care less.
Gregory! Come out, man! I won't
let her take you away, I promise!
LISA
What was that supposed to mean?
JERROD
I know what you're up too. Trying to
strand the poor kid in Minnesota,
with some old lady he doesn't even
know!
LISA
His great aunt... wait, Minnesota?
JERROD
Don't change the subject. Gregory!
Anyway, if you even cared about your
nephew in the slightest, he wouldn't
have run away, now would he?
LISA
Hey, asshole...
JERROD
Jerrod.
LISA
Fine, Jerrod! Listen up, OK Jerrod?
I don't know what Gregory told you,
but he's my responsibility and...
JERROD
Oh, responsibility. I see.
LISA
What the hell would you know, anyway?
JERROD
Well, not a whole lot, I was raised
by some old guy who's wife passed
away a year after adopting me, which
he never did let me live down. So, I
got no family. I wouldn't know shit.
LISA
That's a wonderful story, but we
don't have any family, either, so...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
81.
JERROD
Are you hearing yourself? Gregory
was so right about you.
LISA
You know... fuck you, I'm going this
way.
JERROD
I'll try to make do without your
sharp detection skills and strong
maternal instincts.
Lisa wonders off in a huff.
LISA
Why the hell are you so anxious to
find my nephew, anyway?!
LISA (CONT'D)
(mumbles)
Jack ass.
JERROD
It's Jerrod!
Jerrod shakes his head and continues down the hall. He comes
to a stop. A strange, glazed over look comes over him. He
seems to catch the shivers. He gazes around the claustrophobic
corridor. He hears something down another hallway. He glances
back toward the corridor where he last saw Lisa, then back
toward the noise. With a grim look on his face, Jerrod moves
slowly through the corridor to investigate the noise. Jerrod
reaches into his coat and takes hold of something bulky in
his interior pocket. He stares forward into the darkness.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Gregory?
120 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 120
Lisa storms down the hallway in a furious rage.
LISA
Gregory! Goddammit you get your ass
out here!
Lisa violently swats away hanging curtains as she stops
through the halls in search of the boy.
LISA (CONT'D)
If you don't come out, I swear to
god, I'm fucking leaving! I'm counting
to ten!
Lisa takes a breath.
LISA (CONT'D)
Robbie? Anyone? I need... I need
help! Where the fuck is everyone!?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
82.
Suddenly, Lisa hears Gregory's voice echoing in the distance.
Lisa gazes down the hall to see a twinkle of light at the
far end.
LISA (CONT'D)
Gregory?
She begins to run toward his voice.
LISA (CONT'D)
Gregory, I swear to god I'm gonna
kill you!
121 INT. GALLOWS -- NIGHT 121
Lisa runs into the room to see Gregory standing on the other
side of an iron cell. He stands under a gallows with a rope
tightened around his neck. A Hooded Figure stands over the
boy. He stretches a length of duct tape and covers the boy's
mouth.
LISA
Wh... what the... who...
Robbie slowly turns to greet her from underneath the dark
cloak. His eyes penetrate her as he stares down upon her in
a kind of trance.
LISA (CONT'D)
Robbie? What the hell are you doing?
Robbie puts his finger to his lips with a sympathetic look
on his face and approaches the bars where Lisa stands.
ROBBIE
(softly)
Shhh. It's OK... it's his time, Lisa.
It's his time.
LISA
His... his time? What... what the fuck
are you talking about?!
Robbie wipes the sweat from his forehead. He looks around
for a moment, collecting his thoughts.
ROBBIE
It's better this way.
LISA
Goddammit Robbie, you take that
fucking thing off his neck!
ROBBIE
Look, you don't know how hard it is!
It's... it's a calling. It's a hunger!
It hurts. It boils up... down in the
gut and it just... it don't let go!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
83.
LISA
What!? What doesn't let go!?
ROBBIE
I thought I was a freak when I killed
Maria. And that fucking Randal. But
when I took Mom... and little Joey...
I realized something, Lisa. These...
these urges I get... they're natural.
The universe got a big lo' plan, and
I'm part of it..
LISA
I don't understand anything you're
saying, Robbie. Just let Gregory
loose.
ROBBIE
Would you j... just... hold on for a
g... goddamn minute! Let me... let
me think.
LISA
OK... look, nobody's threatening you
Robbie. Just take a deep breath and...
ROBBIE
What if you were Death, Lisa... he
who executes the will of fate...
Death himself... and you didn't even
know it?
Jerrod runs up to the cage from the other side, equally as
helpless to rescue Gregory. He takes a flashlight from his
coat and shines it into the cage.
JERROD
What the... Gregory!
LISA
Robbie... you're scaring me... you're
scaring the hell out of Gregory.
Robbie slowly pulls out a small, rusty object.
ROBBIE
Now... when I hear that voice...
that call... I listen.
Robbie twitches the weapon and a curved, rusty blade pops
out like a switchblade. Robbie slowly places the blade to
the throat of young Gregory.
LISA
Oh my god. Oh my god.
JERROD
What's going on!?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
84.
LISA
He's the fucking Reaper!
ROBBIE
And with my mighty sword, I strike
down upon the flesh, severing the
mortal coil and bestowing the gentle
mercies of eternal sleep.
LISA
Robbie. Goddammit if there's drop of
humanity left in you, please... please
don't...
ROBBIE
Why? He's just in your way. He's
screwin' up everything!
LISA
No... he... he's my nephew. He needs
me.
Lisa looks into the frightened young Gregory's eyes.
ROBBIE
He needs you?
LISA
I need him.
Robbie looks down at the child and draws his blade to his
own chest, staring at it's glistening tip. Robbie looks back
to the Gallows to see a different child standing with the
rope around his neck.
JOEY
Daddy... mommy has blood on her.
Robbie shakes his head and kicks the bars.
ROBBIE
No! Goddammit... this is your fault.
This is your fault!
LISA
What?!
ROBBIE
They wanted you... it was supposed
to be you! And because you didn't
go, they took everyone else in your
place. So it's all your fault!
LISA
Fuck you, it's not my fault.
ROBBIE
But see everything's gonna be OK...
now that they've sent me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
85.
LISA
Who are you talking about?! Who sent
you?
ROBBIE
The ones... the ones in my dreams.
They... they thirst. For him.
Lisa stares at Robbie in horror.
ROBBIE (CONT'D)
Don't worry Lisa... you're next.
LISA
Crazy fuck...
JERROD
Hey, hey, look at me. Hey. I have
nightmares. Yeah. So, we have
something in common. Isn't that funny?
Robbie stares at him with a blank expression.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Great, OK, so... why don't you just
let the kid go... now that we're
friends... and we can talk all about
those dreams of yours. How does that
sound, man? Sound like a winner?
ROBBIE
You're patronizing me.
LISA
You're nothing but a fucking lunatic!
JERROD
Lisa!
LISA
There's no voices, there's no "them!"
You're just a crazy fuck, going around
talking to yourself and killing
innocent people!
Robbie seems surprised at the statement, as if it's something
he never quite considered.
ROBBIE
You... wh... You think?
Lisa begins to loose patience.
LISA
Robbie! You fucking let him go! Right
now!
Lisa begins to yank on the metal bars of the cage. Robbie
becomes frightened. He backs his way up to the back wall,
stumbling over a large lever.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
86.
He notices the lever, grabs onto it with his fumbling hands,
and gives it a hard yank. It won't budge. Lisa continues to
pull on the bars.
LISA (CONT'D)
Robbie! Don't you fucking do it! I
mean it, goddammit!
JERROD
Lisa!
Robbie gives the lever a final tug, breaking it loose from
its base and causing the floor to drop out from underneath
Gregory.
LISA
No!
As Gregory falls, the noose tightens around his neck, bringing
down the entire flimsy Gallows set and sending the boy
toppling down through the trap door in the floor. The spring
loaded trap door quickly snaps shut once more. Lisa continues
to yank on the bars, causing the shabbily constructed cage
to shake and the ceiling to crumble. Robbie notices the damage
Lisa is doing and begins to cringe in the corner.
LISA (CONT'D)
You... mother... fucker! I'm...
gonna... fucking... kill you!
Lisa finally breaks one of the bars clean off the side,
splintering the cheap wood, and lunges inside.
Jerrod begins to run around to the front of the cage where
Lisa made the hole.
As Lisa leaps at Robbie, he backs up quickly through a small
door and tries to close it but Lisa wedges her arm in to
keep it ajar. Lisa and Robbie lock eyes for an intense
moment. Lisa finally lets go for a second and Robbie is able
to slam the door.
122 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 122
Robbie secures the lock on the door and steps slowly back
into the darkness, letting out a sigh of relief.
123 INT. GALLOWS -- NIGHT 123
Lisa bangs incessantly on the door to no avail. She suddenly
spins around, drops down to the floor and tries to get the
trap door open again.
LISA
Gregory!
Jerrod tries to operate the lever, but it is completely
destroyed. Lisa tugs at the trap door, but it is too tightly
shut.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
87.
JERROD
It won't budge. Sealed from
underneath.
LISA
Where?
JERROD
I think he's in the basement. Come
on, I know another way in!
124 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 124
Robbie watches Lisa and Jerrod leave through a crack in the
wall. He slowly backs up, still stiff with fear from his
close call. As he turns slowly around, he is suddenly pinned
to the wall by his neck with a two-pronged fork of some kind
in the hands of Buferd.
BUFERD
Howdy.
Mr. Griffin steps out from behind Buferd.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
Caught us a little angel of death.
Mr. Griffin snatches the sickle weapon from Robbie's pocket
and examines it. He flicks his cigar butt into Robbie's face.
MR. GRIFFIN
You are gonna love show business.
125 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 125
The deejays stand at the foreboding entrance. The original
exit sign has been covered over and a new exit sign rests
next to the Necrophobia entrance archway.
MELVIN
Are you sure he meant this exit?
JESSE CHASE
I thought you wanted to see
Necrophobia, Melvin.
RANDY RAGE
He's a fuckin' pussy.
MELVIN
Alright, fine, ya friggin' mongoloid!
After you!
Randy peers through the dark entrance.
RANDY RAGE
I didn't say I was goin' first.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
88.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Look, I'll go first! Stick close!
I'm tired of loosing deejays.
The group moves slowly up the steps and into the entrance
corridor.
126 INT. ZOMBIE HALL -- NIGHT 126
As the deejays move slowly across the dark bridge, sounds of
moaning permeate the hall. Suddenly, the bridge begins to
rock violently from side to side. As the deejays panic,
animatronic zombies appear from all sides and claw at the
deejays. Melvin falls to the floor.
JESSE CHASE
C'mon, Melvin!
MELVIN
I can't! I can't move!
JESSE CHASE
Get up, Melvin!
MELVIN
Oh god... oh god... I wanna go home...
I don't wanna die a virgin!
Melvin continues to lay on his back whining as Jesse Chase
drags him out by is legs.
127 INT. DARK STAIRWAY -- NIGHT 127
The deejays pile out of the Zombie Hall as Jesse Chase drags
Melvin out on his back.
JESSE CHASE
You OK?
RANDY RAGE
Yeah, Jesse... dandy.
JESSE CHASE
You know... when she sobers up...
RANDY RAGE
I can't wait that long. I'm just
gonna bash Dick's head in as soon as
I see him.
MIRANDA SHELLY
There's a light down there.
The group slowly gathers together and begins to walk down
the stairs.
MELVIN
I know he said go down some stairs,
but these are some pretty serious
(MORE)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
89.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
fuckin' stairs. I mean, how could
there be an exit this far down?
RANDY RAGE
Stop being negative, asshole.
128 INT. CAGE HALL -- NIGHT 128
The deejays stand at a door with a sign that reads Hall of
Undead Freaks. The door creeps open and the group of deejays
move cautiously into the dark room. The only light emanates
from a small, red light hanging over the doorway.
MELVIN
Jesus Christ, I can't see anything.
What is that horrid stench? Is that
Randy?
RANDY RAGE
Get fucked, Melvin.
MELVIN
Well, you know, I've been looking
everywhere for your sister's corner,
but I just... I just... I can't find
it anywhere...
MIRANDA SHELLY
Melvin!
Randy Rage looks slowly back at Melvin with a deadly serious
look on his face. Melvin stares back.
RANDY RAGE
You better sleep light.
Melvin looks over to Miranda Shelly.
MELVIN
The man is a ticking bomb. That's
all I'm sayin'.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Look y'all, I stopped baby sitting
when I was fifteen. Fifteen! Damn.
Miranda Shelly feels around for a light switch, but finds
only a flashlight sitting on an exposed stud.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
OK, hold on, people...
Miranda Shelly switches on the flashlight revealing rows of
cages all the way down the hall. She walks slowly up to the
bars of one cage and peers inside to see a woman hanging by
a single shackle on her wrist.
The woman hangs motionlessly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
90.
She has no head.
Miranda Shelly notices a bloody head resting on a small tray
near the woman.
As she stares at the gruesome head, its eyes suddenly open
and her body trembles violently on the wall, reaching out
for Miranda Shelly. As the woman stretches her arm as far as
she can, dangling from the rusty shackle, Miranda Shelly
jumps back in terror.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Oh my god! Its... she's... she's
alive.
Jesse Chase takes hold of the flashlight and angles it into
the cage behind her. She taps on Randy Rage's shoulder. The
deejays stare into a cage where a man stands, arms spread
and shackled to each side of the cage, staring back at them
with two heads. One head seems haphazardly sewn onto the
shoulder.
RANDY RAGE
No... fucking... way.
JESSE CHASE
OK, guys. Relax. It's just special
effects. Animatronics. It's all
fake.
Miranda Shelly walks slowly up to another cage and carefully
takes hold of the bars as she aims her flashlight inside.
JESSE CHASE (CONT'D)
It's all... fake.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Are you sure about that?
Inside the cage, Lenny's torso hangs by shackles with his
head hung low. Miranda Shelly takes notice of a plaque next
to the cage depicting a bandaged freak severed in half. The
plaque is entitled "The Amazing Half-Man."
Lenny draws his head up to reveal nothing but holes where
his eyes should be, allowing the horrified deejays to stare
straight through his head to the brick wall beyond.
As Jesse Chase backs up, two hands burst suddenly from the
cage and wrap a chain around her throat. Randy Rage runs to
the rescue, struggling with the Fisherman as he tries to
strangle the life out of her.
RANDY RAGE
Fuck you... motherfucker!
MELVIN
Oh Jesus... oh Jesus... I gotta get
outta here...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
91.
Randy Rage finally rips Jesse Chase free from the Fisherman's
grip and the two pile on the floor.
RANDY RAGE
That's right bitch. Try it again.
MELVIN
Fuck! Oh, fuck... help!
Melvin takes off running further down the hall.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Melvin, wait! Get back here!
Miranda Shelly, Jesse Chase, and Randy Rage chase Melvin
around a corner, but they loose him in the winding hallways.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Melvin!
As the three deejays shout down the corridor, a loud pounding
bursts from the hall behind them. The three spin around to
see an enormous iron door. Suddenly, there's another
deafening pound at the door. And another.
RANDY RAGE
Run! Run!
129 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 129
Footsteps permeate the hall as Buferd approaches the
gargantuan Necrophobia archway wearing protective gear,
goggles, a breathing mask, and armed to the teeth with guns,
knives, a hatchet, and a shoulder strap full of grenades.
Buferd stops suddenly, detecting the noise of approaching
footsteps down the hall, then turns to enter Necrophobia.
130 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 130
Miranda Shelly, Jesse Chase, and Randy Rage make their way
frantically through the winding hallways of Necrophobia.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Melvin!
RANDY RAGE
Forget that jackass! We need to exit
this motherfucker!
131 INT. DISPLAY ROOM -- NIGHT 131
Melvin creeps slowly along the corridor with his back to the
wall, frozen solid with fear. As he inches into a large room,
a body dangles precariously behind him.
ROBBIE
Melvin!
Melvin spins around to see Robbie suspended by chains in the
center of the room.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
92.
MELVIN
Bob!
ROBBIE
Help me, Melvin. Get me down off a'
here!
MELVIN
I... I don't know how... I... I can't.
ROBBIE
Sure you can! Melvin! Melvin!
MELVIN
Herbert.
ROBBIE
What?
MELVIN
My... my name's Herbert.
ROBBIE
Well my name's Robbie. I need you to
help me, Herbert. See that hall down
there? I think I saw some kinda
levers, or switches, or something in
there.
Melvin turns his head slowly toward a door on the side of
the room.
MELVIN
In... in here?
ROBBIE
Yeah. Now, go on in there Melvin,
and just throw every switch, got it?
MELVIN
Throw every switch I see?
ROBBIE
Yeah, Melvin. Throw 'em all. 'Til
these here chains come loose from
the ceiling.
Melvin draws himself up slowly and moves toward the room.
Switches rest in their upright positions, waiting for Melvin
to arrive.
132 INT. CAGE HALL -- NIGHT 132
Miranda Shelly, Jesse Chase, and Randy Rage barrel into the
room, ducking at grasping hands from cages in every direction.
JESSE CHASE
We can't just take off and leave
everyone!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
93.
MIRANDA SHELLY
All we need to do is get outside...
get to the van! We get to the van,
we call for help. Or we drive to
the next gas station and get the
police down here!
RANDY RAGE
Either way, we have got to get the
hell out of here. Now!
Buferd suddenly appears at the other end of the hall, blocking
the stairway, and fires his shotgun. The wall next to Randy
Rage's head explodes and the three deejays hit the floor.
Each deejay scrambles to an alcove for safety as the mad
Buferd inches down the cage hall with his shotgun drawn.
Buferd catches a glimpse of Randy Rage's boot around a corner
and fires again. Randy Rage draws himself up further into
the corner and tries to crawl to better safety when Buferd
creeps around the corner with his shotgun baring down upon
him. Randy Rage stares up helplessly at Buferd, frozen with
terror. Suddenly, there is a metallic click and the cage
door next to Buferd creaks innocently open. As Buferd turns
to look, an undead creature suddenly throws its self upon
him. Buferd flails violently as the creature attacks. Behind
the commotion, each cage door in the hallway swings open one
by one.
133 INT. SWITCH ROOM -- NIGHT 133
Melvin stands at the switch bank, quickly throwing every
switch on the board.
134 INT. DISPLAY ROOM -- NIGHT 134
Robbie watches the dark switch room doorway as the sound of
dropping levers echoes out. Suddenly, a click rings out from
above and Robbie's chains come loose, allowing him to fall
to the floor as the chains come down around him.
135 INT. CAGE HALL -- NIGHT 135
An undead beast explodes as Buferd blasts him with his
shotgun, taking a moment to cock the gun once more. Randy
Rage still sits in his corner, terrified. Buferd blasts the
creature a second time, this time exploding its head, then
whips around as he cocks his gun to blast Randy Rage, but
his gun only blows a hole through the wall. Randy Rage has
disappeared. Buferd spins around to see shadows flailing
about from inside the open cells. A tentacle creeps out of
one cell and wraps slowly around the bars. Holding his gun
to his chest, Buferd slowly backs into the darkness of the
halls beyond.
136 INT. DISPLAY ROOM -- NIGHT 136
Melvin helps Robbie up, then takes a moment to catch his
breath.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
94.
MELVIN
What is this place? What the fuck
are they doing here?
Robbie rests on all fours, trying to recover from his ordeal.
As Melvin searches around the room, he notices a collection
of plaques and begins to inspect them.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
January fourth, nineteen-ninety-nine,
Maria Patterson vanishes along with
co-worker Allen Randal. January
eighth, young girl found dead in
park, strangled in swing set. January
twenty-eight, Martha and Joey
Patterson found dead in suburban
home. Gary Patterson, Father to
Joey, husband to Maria, son to Martha,
vanishes never to be seen again.
Melvin moves on to another plaque.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
January first, two-thousand-two,
another rash of murders begins
hundreds of miles away, in Texas.
This time, all victims fall within
sixteen to twenty-five age range,
each an avid listener to a local
radio station... my, god. Silvana
Adams, I remember now. She used to
call into the morning show.
Melvin slowly looks up to a rusty sickle hanging above the
plaques.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
Oh Jesus... the Reaper... the
Reaper...
Melvin begins to back up slowly.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
The Reaper works at our radio station!
Melvin spins around to see Robbie standing inches from his
face. Robbie grabs Melvin by the neck and thrusts him against
the wall.
ROBBIE
Damn Herbert, you just plumb stupid.
Robbie throws Melvin to the floor and reaches up to pull his
sickle down from its display rack on the wall. Melvin crawls
miserably along the floor, trying to escape.
MELVIN
Nooo! Please... don't kill me!
Jesus... I'm too... I'm too ugly to
die!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
95.
Robbie slowly follows Melvin, methodically raising his sickle
and thrusting it down upon Melvin's back.
MELVIN (CONT'D)
Gahhhh! Oh shit! Jesus!
Robbie rips out the sickle and Melvin falls flat, lying
motionlessly on the floor. Robbie stares down coldly upon
Melvin as he towers over the bloody body. Moans begin to
creep up from the dark hallways beyond. Robbie looks around
to ascertain their origin.
137 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 137
Mr. Griffin bursts into the room and barks at Mr. Joad.
MR. GRIFFIN
Cut the jammer off!
MR. JOAD
Are you sure you wanna...
MR. GRIFFIN
Now, idiot!
Mr. Joad cuts a switch. Mr. Griffin picks up a radio.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
(into radio)
Buferd! Where are you? You found
those deejays yet? I don't want any
traces! Buferd!
BUFERD (V.O.)
(garbled)
Boss! Goddammit!
MR. GRIFFIN
What was that?! Repeat!
138 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 138
Buferd kneels down to reload his shotgun and stares down the
dark corridor ahead as he grabs his radio. Sounds of moaning
and snarling emanate from the halls, raising slowly to a
fever pitch.
BUFERD
Their out, boss! The goddamn freaks
are all out! They're all loose!
139 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 139
Miranda Shelly scoots along the wall, turning a corner and
slamming into Jesse Chase.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Where's Randy?!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
96.
Suddenly, an undead creature leaps past Miranda Shelly,
pinning Jesse Chase to the floor. As Jesse Chase lies
screaming and struggling with the beast, Miranda Shelly
quickly whips her flashlight around to see the hissing skull-
like face of another creature behind her and lets out an ear
piercing shriek.
140 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 140
Jerrod and Lisa arrive at the towering archway and stare
into the entrance tunnel as if it were the gaping mouth of
hell.
LISA
Necro... ph... phobia? What the hell
does it mean?
JERROD
It's a condition.
LISA
What?
JERROD
It's a mental disorder. I know,
because I have it.
Lisa glances up at the sign and looks slowly back to Jerrod.
LISA
Well, what does it... do?
JERROD
It's a fear. Fear of death...
dying... fear of the dead.
LISA
You're afraid of dead people? Dead
people are harmless, it's the living
that can still fuck you over.
JERROD
Look, it's just... it's hard.
Lisa slowly takes Jerrod's hand.
LISA
C'mon.
They walk up the steps and into the darkness of the
Necrophobia archway.
141 INT. CAGE HALL -- NIGHT 141
The shadows of Jerrod and Lisa precede them along the stairway
as they make their way into the Hall of Undead Freaks. Jerrod
and Lisa stare down the corridor to see a row of empty cages,
doors standing wide open. The room is a bloody mess.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
97.
JERROD
God I hate haunted houses.
LISA
Which way to the hatch?
As the pair walk through the corridor, slimy tentacles drop
slowly down behind Jerrod.
JERROD
I'm not too sure...
The tentacles suddenly constrict around his throat and yank
him upward. Lisa screams and grabs Jerrod's legs, attempting
to pull him back down. As they struggle, Jerrod looks up to
see a man standing on the catwalk overhead with his intestines
pouring out of his stomach, appearing as a tangle of
tentacles. The man grabs Jerrod by the arm and his veins
shoot out of his wrist, wrapping around Jerrod's arm all the
way to his neck. Lisa is knocked to the floor in the scuffle.
Gathering herself back up, Lisa takes notice of a revolver
lying on the floor. Lisa takes up the revolver and aims it
up to the dark catwalk.
LISA
Robbie? Is that you goddammit?!
Lisa fires a shot at the dark figure. A scream bellows through
the corridor and Jerrod drops to the floor, still caught up
in the tentacles. Lisa drags herself up and fires another
shot into the rafters. Sounds of screeching and flailing
emanate from the rafters above as the tentacles loosen their
grip and Jerrod shakes himself free. Lisa tries to fire
once more, but her gun is out of bullets. The Tentacle
Creature drops suddenly from the rafters and writhes on the
floor for a moment. He then draws himself up on all fours.
His intestines spill out upon the floor all at once and as
the creature slowly stands up, his tentacle-like-intestines
blast forward at Jerrod and Lisa. The pair take off into the
darkness of the hallways beyond as the tentacles squirm after
them.
142 INT. DARK CELL VESTIBULE -- NIGHT 142
Jerrod and Lisa charge into the small vestibule and lock
themselves inside.
LISA
What the fuck is that?!
JERROD
I uh... I dont...
Jerrod begins to hyper ventilate. As the Tentacle Creature
shakes the handle, attempting to get inside, Lisa notices
another door, an ominous iron door, directly across from
them. Lisa slowly peers through a small peephole in the iron
door to see a seemingly empty room and enormous boat chains
dangling from the ceiling. Jerrod sits in a trance.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
98.
LISA
I think this way is clear.
Lisa tries to open the iron door when suddenly there is an
incredible pounding on the iron door that nearly brings the
room down. Lisa shrieks and is thrown into a corner as the
pounding continues incessantly, buckling the door each time.
Jerrod closes his eyes and grabs his head, showing tremendous
strain.
Jerrod has sudden flashes of an old man rising from his
coffin. The old man chases him. Jerrod stares with eyes
plastered open while the old man screams and his flesh is
violently melted from his face leaving only a skull.
LISA (CONT'D)
Jerrod!
Jerrod looks slowly upward to see Lisa standing over him.
LISA (CONT'D)
C'mon! It stopped!
143 INT. DARK CELL -- NIGHT 143
The iron door creeps slowly open as Jerrod and Lisa cautiously
enter the room.
144 INT. DARK CELL VESTIBULE -- NIGHT 144
A tentacle creeps under the outer door and squirms slowly
upward, wrapping around the door handle.
145 INT. DARK CELL -- NIGHT 145
Jerrod takes notice of the boat chains dangling from above
as he and Lisa make their way through the dark cell to another
door on the other side.
146 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 146
A door handle slowly turns and the door creeps slowly open
as Jerrod and Lisa make their way into the hallway. Lisa
turns her head to the left corridor, then to the right
corridor.
LISA
Which way?
Jerrod stands silent.
LISA (CONT'D)
Jerrod?
Jerrod comes out of his daze and pulls out his map.
JERROD
Uh... there's supposed to be an access
ladder I think. The map doesn't
cover the basement.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
99.
Suddenly, tentacles burst through the map and Jerrod panics
as the Tentacle Creature writhes violently behind him. Lisa
grabs Jerrod and the two of them run down the left hallway.
147 INT. DARK ROOM -- NIGHT 147
Lisa and Jerrod pile into a dark room, panting.
LISA
We need... to find... Gregory.
JERROD
I think we're trapped.
A shadow creeps up a wall.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Do you see that?
LISA
What?
The shadow points to a small access hatch at the other end
of the room.
JERROD
I think there might be a way out
down here.
LISA
How do you know?
JERROD
Just a hunch.
As Jerrod pulls the hatch open, the enormous arm of Bo Jack
flails out to grab him. Jerrod barely struggles loose as Bo
Jack crashes through the hatch, smashing the surrounding
wall to splinters. Lisa runs back the way they came and swings
the door to reveal Buferd standing with goggles on and his
shotgun in hand. Lisa screams as she backs into Jarred. She
grabs him by the shoulders and pulls him down to the floor
with her. Bo Jack lets out a tremendous roar as Buferd levels
his shotgun at him. Mr. Joad comes running through the hole
in the wall.
MR. JOAD
No!
BUFERD
Fuck you!
Buferd blasts a hole in Bo Jack, dropping him to the floor.
MR. JOAD
You... bastard!
Mr. Joad draws his revolver on Buferd. Buferd stands for a
moment with his shotgun to his side. Sweat pours down Mr.
Joad's face as the two of them face off.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
100.
Finally, Buferd jerks his shotgun to bare on Mr. Joad. Before
Buferd can pull the trigger, Mr. Joad fires his revolver
into Buferd's chest. After pausing for a moment to keep his
balance, Buferd slowly brings his shotgun up again. Mr. Joad
fires another shot at Buferd, then another which knocks Buferd
across the room. Mr. Joad aims his gun at Buferd on the
floor and fires three more shots into his body.
Mr. Joad slowly notices Lisa and Jerrod curled up on the
floor and lowers his gun down toward them. Jared is frozen
with fear. Lisa looks over to the bloody Buferd lying on the
floor. She locks eyes with Mr. Joad.
There is a sudden bang as the door swings open and Mr. Joad
spins around to fire, but his gun is empty. Mr. Griffin stands
at the door and stares back at Mr. Joad.
MR. GRIFFIN
What in the hell's goin' on here?!
Mr. Joad quickly drops his gun.
MR. JOAD
Mr. Griffin! They were... he... he
shot Bo Jack.
Mr. Griffin looks down at Bo Jack, then at Buferd.
MR. GRIFFIN
You killed him. You shot Buferd.
Mr. Griffin bends down to inspect Buferd. He feels Buferd's
neck for a pulse, then slowly pulls the shotgun from Buferd's
hands. Mr. Griffin lifts the shotgun toward Mr. Joad.
MR. JOAD
What are you doing?
Mr. Griffin stands up and begins to walk toward Mr. Joad.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
Stop it!
MR. GRIFFIN
Your squabbling went too far, Joad.
You and your little buddy are
disrupting my greatest creation!
MR. JOAD
This wouldn't have happened to Bo in
the first place if it weren't for
you and all your goddamn, precious,
bloodthirsty freaks! Bo and I, we
built this place for you!
MR. GRIFFIN
You'll be buried in this place.
MR. JOAD
You better stop right there!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
101.
MR. GRIFFIN
I'm gonna kill you, Joad.
Mr. Griffin steps over the body of Bo Jack.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
I'm gonna kill you, dead as Bo.
MR. JOAD
The hell you are!
Mr. Joad grabs the shotgun and the two men fight over it.
Lisa grabs Jerrod by the shirt collar and drags him out the
door.
Mr. Joad begins to punch Mr. Griffin, slamming his fist into
his face over and over until the shotgun is freed. Mr. Griffin
struggles to his feet and locks eyes with Mr. Joad for a
split second. Mr. Joad suddenly fires the shotgun, sending
Mr. Griffin flying across the room. Mr. Joad stands with the
shotgun, towering over the bodies, alone and soaked with
their blood.
Mr. Joad kneels down at the body of Bo Jack.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
Jesus Christ Bo... what the fuck
have we done to you.
There is a slight movement behind Mr. Joad.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
You're still there, too... aren't
you?
Buferd slowly sits up behind Mr. Joad.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
It's all Griffin's fault... crazy
fuckin' bastard.
Mr. Joad slowly reloads his shotgun as Buferd stands up
shakily behind him and begins to shuffle toward him.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
I'm gonna set you free, Bo. I'm gonna
set you free.
Mr. Joad rests the barrel of his shotgun on the forehead of
Bo Jack. He crosses himself.
MR. JOAD (CONT'D)
God, forgive me.
As Buferd inches up behind Mr. Joad and raises his hatchet
high, Mr. Joad blasts Bo Jack's head clean off.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
102.
148 INT. DISPLAY ROOM -- NIGHT 148
Robbie stands somberly with his sickle in-hand as he stares
into his family photo on the wall. A single tear rolls down
his cheek as he suddenly feels a spark of humanity reminding
him of what he lost. In a sudden burst of fear and anger,
Robbie smashes the photo to pieces with his sickle. As Robbie
backs up slowly, staring at the shards of glass on the floor,
Melvin lurches up behind him dripping with blood. Robbie
spins around to see Melvin and gasps in horror. Melvin drops
again to his knees and scurries up to Robbie, begging at his
feet.
MELVIN
P... please... help... me!
Robbie, shocked and disgusted at the sight of Melvin, begins
hacking at him from above. Melvin shrieks and lurches backward
as Robbie backs away and takes off running down the hall.
Robbie stops suddenly to notice that he slashed his own knee
in his fit of anger. Robbie spins around for one last look
at Melvin, who lurches up once more, looks down in horror at
the bloody lacerations on his body, and stares back at Robbie.
Robbie spins around once more and continues to run through
the darkness of the corridor. The shadows of more undead
creatures stalk closely behind him.
149 INT. LADDER ROOM -- NIGHT 149
Robbie bursts into the room and discovers a ladder. He begins
to climb.
150 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 150
Robbie reaches the top of the ladder and climbs off onto the
ground floor where he limps away, holding his knee in agony.
Sounds of moaning and hissing emanate from the ladder well.
As the noises grow louder, a tentacle bursts from the dark
well and lashes out across the floor.
151 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 151
As Jerrod and Lisa make their way toward the cage hall, a
door bursts open and Randy Rage charges out, startling them.
Miranda Shelly follows along with a badly injured Jesse Chase.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Are you..?
LISA
One of them? No!
RANDY RAGE
What the fuck is going on here?
MIRANDA SHELLY
Jesse, are you OK?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
103.
JESSE CHASE
It hurts. Please, just get me out of
here.
MIRANDA SHELLY
OK Jesse, don't you worry about it,
we're leaving.
JESSE CHASE
How can these things be alive?! Half
of 'em don't even have a face!
RANDY RAGE
Something's keeping 'em going! It's
like the night of the walking fucking
dead or some shit back there! Now,
what the hell does that?!
Jerrod stairs up into space as he rests his head against the
wall.
Jesse Chase holds his bleeding shoulder. Randy Rage
absentmindedly shoves him aside and barks at Jerrod.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
This shitbag right here... he works
in this place! I say we beat his
fucking head in. Then we rip his dick
off. Then maybe we ask him what the
fuck is going on here.
LISA
Lay off him! He doesn't know anything!
Do you Jerrod?
Jerrod looks at them all in horrified realization. He does
know.
RANDY RAGE
Well, maybe Pat fuckin' Benatar over
here knows something.
LISA
Go to hell!
Randy Rage steps up to Lisa and shouts down at her.
RANDY RAGE
How do we get outta here?!
Lisa balls her fist.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Randy! Cool it!
Jerrod grabs Randy Rage by the collar of his shirt.
JERROD
That's enough! The stairs are right
down there!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
104.
LISA
What about Gregory!?
Suddenly, the walls explode as undead creatures file out
toward them.
LISA (CONT'D)
Jerrod! I can't just leave here
without him!
JERROD
I know!
Jerrod grabs Lisa by the arm and drags her to the cage hall.
152 INT. CAGE HALL -- NIGHT 152
Jerrod and Lisa run behind Miranda Shelly and Randy Rage who
carries Jesse Chase as she limps along as fast as she can.
Jerrod gathers some of Buferd's weapons from the floor,
tossing a revolver to Lisa. They fire backward as they run
toward the stairs.
153 INT. STAIRWAY -- NIGHT 153
Jerrod, Lisa, Miranda Shelly, Randy Rage, and Jesse Chase
burst into the stairwell. Jerrod bolts the door shut. The
group barrels up the stairs toward the ground floor.
154 INT. ZOMBIE HALL -- NIGHT 154
As Jerrod, Lisa, Miranda Shelly, Randy Rage, and Jesse Chase
charge through the dark corridor, the bridge starts to shake
and animatronic zombies burst out from all sides.
RANDY RAGE
Not this shit again.
Suddenly, a real zombie lurches down and grabs Jesse Chase,
raising her into he air. The others look on in shock as Jesse
Chase kicks her legs and squirms in the air. She suddenly
drops to the floor. The creature follows, landing on top of
her and clawing at her.
Jerrod tries to shoot but his gun is empty. Lisa lifts her
gun, but hesitates.
LISA
I'll... I'll hit her!
Randy suddenly snatches the gun away from her and unloads it
into the zombie attacking Jesse Chase, shooting it square in
the head with every shot.
Suddenly, another creature slinks up from below the bridge
and separates Jesse Chase from the rest. It hisses at Jerrod
and Lisa.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
105.
More creatures pop up behind Jesse Chase. The Fisherman
lurches up from behind her, chains dangling from hooks all
over his body. He grabs her by the throat.
JESSE CHASE
Heeellllp!
Jerrod wields a long flashing, swinging at a creature as it
backs the whole group out the exit, further and further from
Jesse Chase.
155 INT. NECROPHOBIA ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 155
Jerrod backs the others out of the hallway and down the steps
as the creature slowly creeps toe to toe with him.
RANDY RAGE
What are you doing! Jesse is still
in there!
JERROD
I don't think he cares.
Jerrod looks all around him. He looks at Lisa.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Keep going... give him some room.
Lisa backs into a wall.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Lisa!
Lisa looks back to see a fire ax mounted on the wall behind
her. She elbows the glass and tosses the ax to Jerrod. The
creature shrieks. Jerrod catches the ax and swings hard,
decapitating the creature.
Randy Rage leaps up to the edge of the entrance to see Jesse
Chase surrounded by creatures. As the Fisherman strangles
her with his chains, tossing her down to the floor, he takes
out a massive hook and drives it through the back of her
head. He looks back up to glare at Randy Rage.
RANDY RAGE
Nooooo!!
He pauses for a moment to consider his options. He grabs the
grenade strap from his shoulder. As the Fisherman begins to
drag off Jesse Chase, Randy Rage pops the pin off a grenade
and tosses the whole belt into the hall.
LISA
What the hell are you doing!?
JERROD
Get out... everyone get out, now!
As Jerrod, Lisa, Miranda Shelly, and Randy Rage leap out of
the Necrophobia entrance, the hall beyond erupts into flames.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
106.
156 EXT. PARKING LOT -- NIGHT 156
The onlookers standing in line are shocked by a tremendous
explosion bursting from the roof of the complex. As panic
sets in, people begin to run to their cars in droves. The
teenage employees at the door stand perplexed for a moment,
staring at the facility with their hands in their smocks,
then slowly begin to take off in the other direction.
Exotic Dancer #1 gathers her belongings in her purse.
EXOTIC DANCER #1
Well, I'm outta here.
157 INT. HAUNTED BEDROOM -- NIGHT 157
Robbie jerks around in all directions, trying to figure out
if the explosion was real or just a part of the haunted house
sound scape. As he peers down a hallway, the shambling form
of an undead creature limps slowly past him from behind.
Unaware of the creature, Robbie slowly turns to continue
down his corridor when he is suddenly faced with Melvin.
MELVIN
You... you little shit! Fucking
stabbing me! I'm gonna... I'm gonna
tear your goddamn head off!
Robbie shrieks and runs the other way when suddenly, the
headless body of Dick Johnson stumbles along to block his
way. Robbie freezes and lets out another shriek. Dick Johnson
begins to swing at Robbie, smashing the walls left and right.
Robbie runs for his life toward a glowing red exit sign.
158 INT. GIMP CELLAR ACCESS ROOM -- NIGHT 158
The door swings open and Robbie rushes in, quickly locking
it behind him. As Robbie slowly backs up, he stumbles over
the steps and spins around to see the open Gimp Cellar hatch
behind him.
ROBBIE
Oh... Jesus.
Suddenly, the blood-soaked body of Sandra Storm rises from
the hatch and towers over Robbie. Horrified, Robbie backs
away as Sandra Storm steps slowly down toward him. Robbie
fumbles for his sickle when Sandra Storm backhands him across
the room. The sickle falls at the feet of Sandra Storm and
she slowly leans down and picks it up. The blade pops out as
Robbie stares in mortal terror.
159 INT. STORAGE ROOM -- NIGHT 159
Robbie smashes through a door and falls over a stack of boxes
as he backs his way through the storage room, followed closely
by Sandra Storm. She is drenched in a deep crimson as she
bares down upon Robbie with his own sickle. Robbie continues
to back through the room, slamming into a small door.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
107.
160 INT. GALLOWS -- NIGHT 160
The Hottie in Red arrives with her friends just in time to
see Robbie tumbling through the rear door and falling over
the broken gallows as Sandra Storm follows. Robbie stands
up and throws himself against the iron bars.
ROBBIE
Help! Help me! Please!
The amazed teenagers look on as Sandra Storm thrusts the
sickle through Robbie's back, piercing through to his chest
again and again. As Robbie slowly stops flailing around and
begins to slide down the bars, Sandra Storm thrusts the sickle
one final time through Robbie's head, sending the tip blasting
through his mouth. Blood slowly trickles from Robbie's lips
and down the bars as the teenagers stare in awe.
TEENAGER #1
That's amazing!
HOTTIE IN RED
Oh my... god...
As the teenagers back up to the hall behind them, a large
tentacle wraps around one of them, squeezing him until he
bleeds. The other teenagers gasp and scramble away in terror.
Suddenly, an arm reaches over the shoulder of another teenager
holding her own head. Her eyes dart around at the teenagers
as she makes her way into the room, standing with a stub for
a neck and holding her head high. More undead creatures creep
along beside her as the teenagers begin to panic and shriek.
161 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 161
Teenagers run in terror from the horde of undead. The Hottie's
Boyfriend wrestles with a zombie, throwing it down. He
smashes another across the head.
And enormous, muscular zombie smashes through the wall with
a sledgehammer. Hottie's Boyfriend leaps in front of him,
protecting Hottie in Red.
HOTTIE'S BOYFRIEND
Get back! Get away!
The zombie smashes Hottie's Boyfriend in the head with his
sledgehammer. He slams another kid next to him. He backhands
a third kid with the sledgehammer, knocking him against the
wall, as the creature lumbers toward the other kids.
One kid is taken down by a pursuing creature. Then another.
Suddenly, the teenagers collide with Miranda Shelly, Randy
Rage, and an ash covered, shell-shocked Lisa.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Get behind us!
Miranda Shelly draws up a metal pipe and swings it at one of
the creatures, sending it spinning to the floor.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
108.
Randy Rage grips a shard of wood and proceeds to beat another
two creatures to a pulp. Randy Rage notices that his weapon
has been splintered in two and tosses it to the floor.
RANDY RAGE
Shit!
MIRANDA SHELLY
Where are the exits?
A smock-wearing employee among the teens stutters to answer.
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
Th... there aren't none! We're all
locked down!
Randy Rage grabs Teen Employee #2 and holds him firmly by
the collar.
RANDY RAGE
The guy? Gun-lover? Fought for the
south?
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
B... Buferd?
RANDY RAGE
Tell me where he keeps his shit!
162 INT. FARM HOUSE -- NIGHT 162
Randy Rage barrels through the front door onto the porch,
followed by Miranda Shelly, the teenagers, and finally Lisa.
As Lisa steps through the door, an undead creature lunges
through from behind and Lisa is knocked to the floor as
Miranda Shelly and Randy Rage rush up to block the doorway.
The teens back up slowly, watching the chaos in utter terror,
when suddenly they realize one of the teens among them has
no eyes... and no brain. The undead Kraig grabs the Hottie
in Red as the others shriek and scramble for safety.
KRAIG
Roooooooooxaaanne!!! Yoooouuuu don't
have to turn on the red light!
Kraig grabs her rear and presses her tight against him. Kraig
lets out a hideous chuckle, towering over her with hollow
eyes. He lashes his tongue at her as she whips her head back
to avoid him. She lets out an incredible shriek. As she
struggles to push him away, he goes in for a sloppy, bloody
kiss.
KRAIG (CONT'D)
What's for dinner baby?
Lisa stares at the chaos in a daze as world moves in slow
motion with sparks flying and beams falling from above in
total silence.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
109.
Miranda Shelly leaps down the steps, leaving Randy Rage to
hold the door, and crashes down with her pipe onto Kraig's
head so hard that what's left of his skull is completely
obliterated.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Getcha' own dinner.
Undead Kraig continues to squirm on the floor for a moment,
then a calm comes over him as a shadow seems to loom up from
his body and bare down upon the group. The shadow quickly
darts off into the darkness.
Randy Rage secures the door with a piece of wood and joins
the others at the bottom of the steps. Miranda Shelly leans
down to Lisa who is shivering on the floor in silence.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Are you alright? Are you hurt?
Miranda Shelly seems to shout with all her might, but only a
faint murmur reaches Lisa's ears. She simply shivers. Miranda
Shelly offers Lisa her hand and draws her to her feet.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Can you walk? Hey, c'mon. Something
tells me we're gonna get out of this
just fine. Now let's walk, OK?
Lisa nods. The teens begin to gather around Miranda Shelly.
HOTTIE IN RED
I'm glad you're here.
Randy Rage peers down on the bloody corpse of Kraig.
RANDY RAGE
Any one of us dies, we end up like
that. So don't any more of you
motherfuckers die, got it?
MIRANDA SHELLY
It looks like if we bash 'em up hard
enough, eventually... they just
collapse.
Miranda Shelly kneels at Kraig's limp body.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Dammit. Kraig.
RANDY RAGE
They're not human anymore. They're
all just a buncha fuckin' animals.
163 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 163
Randy Rage and the rest approach the door to Griffin's office.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
110.
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
Quickest way to Buferd's room is
through Griffin's office.
Randy Rage tries to open the door but it's locked.
RANDY RAGE
Fuck.
Randy Rage begins to ram the door with his shoulder.
164 INT. MR. GRIFFIN'S OFFICE -- NIGHT 164
Jerrod stands in the dark, grimy with dust and suet, and
watches the door as the pounding grows harder and harder.
Jerrod draws up a shotgun with his right hand as he holds
his injured left hand under his armpit. Suddenly, Randy Rage
comes crashing through the door. Jerrod fires his shotgun
over Randy Rage's head. Randy Rage scoots to the edge of the
room as the others hide in the hallway behind the door.
RANDY RAGE
He's one of 'em! Somebody take his
ass out!
JERROD
Nobody move!
LISA
Jerrod!?
JERROD
Listen to me, I'm alive as all of
you. I'm messed up pretty good, but
I'm not dead yet! So just... cool
it!
RANDY RAGE
Prove it!
JERROD
I'll prove it...
Jerrod jumps up onto a table and stands over Randy Rage with
his shotgun aimed down at his head. After a brief moment of
tension, Jerrod tosses the gun down to Randy Rage.
JERROD (CONT'D)
You wanna keep fuckin' around, or
you wanna get outta here?
CUT TO:
Jerrod scours the room with the others, turning over tables
and pulling books off bookcases.
JERROD (CONT'D)
You sure you've never seen a safe or
lock-box or anything?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
111.
TEEN EMPLOYEE #2
We don't really get to come in here.
If the boss caught us in here... or
Buferd...
RANDY RAGE
Then I'd blow his fucking head off.
JERROD
It's got to be somewhere!
MIRANDA SHELLY
Those things are right outside our
door! What exactly are we trying to
accomplish here, anyway?
JERROD
It's an amulet. About yea big.
As Jerrod looks through a filing cabinet, he finds several
photocopied pages from the journal. Jerrod holds up a page
with the amulet in the corner.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Looks something like this.
MIRANDA SHELLY
I don't...
JERROD
This place is cursed. Until we find
this amulet, Death won't come here.
RANDY RAGE
Why?
JERROD
Because he believes it to be forbidden
by the Seven Shadows.
RANDY RAGE
Well I'm glad I fuckin' asked. That
just clears up everything.
MIRANDA SHELLY
How do you know all this? Can you be
sure?
JERROD
Sure? No. Not until I find this!
Jerrod waves around the page with the amulet illustration.
MIRANDA SHELLY
OK, fine, so let's assume you know
what you're talking about...
Randy Rage looks to Miranda Shelly and makes an "are you
nuts" gesture toward Jerrod and rolls his eyes, tossing his
arms in the air.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
112.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
...what are we supposed to do?
Jerrod stands flipping through the pages.
JERROD
According to this... we bury it.
RANDY RAGE
Bury it?
JERROD
Six feet under.
RANDY RAGE
Why?
Jerrod looks over to Randy Rage.
JERROD
Because that's what the only three
Egyptian survivors did before they
crawled half dead from the desert
and related their story to a
Babylonian scribe.
RANDY RAGE
Why do I keep asking why? You know
what... I'm just not going to ask
anymore questions. That's all.
Jerrod stares intently at the Necrophobia poster on the wall.
He walks over to the poster and stares up at the hideous
gore.
MIRANDA SHELLY
It's awful. His sick dream.
Jerrod yanks the poster down to reveal the safe set in the
wall behind it. Randy Rage turns to notice the discovery. He
slowly hands Jerrod his shotgun and Jerrod draws it up to
the safe.
JERROD
Not anymore it isn't.
Jerrod pulls the trigger, exploding the safe wide open. As
the smoke clears, the safe stands open with a shimmering
golden amulet carefully set inside on a web of glistening
chains. Behind the amulet lies a stack of papers.
CUT TO:
Jerrod tosses the smoking amulet and a stack of burnt journal
pages in ziplock bags onto the table.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Bastard. I knew he had more of these.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
113.
Jerrod begins to flip through the pages. One is titled
"Mortonics." On the page is a set of illustrations depicting
a mixture of chemicals and a human brain.
MIRANDA SHELLY
What does it mean?
JERROD
Mortonics. Holy shit, you sneaky
sonavabitch, you did it.
RANDY RAGE
I can't believe I'm doing this, but...
did what?
JERROD
He figured it out...
Jerrod holds up the page.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Brain preservation. The one thing
that eluded the Pharaoh who created
this medallion.
MIRANDA SHELLY
He wanted to be... immortal?
JERROD
Yeah, and apparently, being immortal
involves draining bodies of their
fluid and mixing them with some weird
chemicals to create some kind of
marrow, DNA cocktail. Talk about a
sick dream.
Randy Rage picks up the amulet and marvels at it. It seems
to glow and pulsate slightly as he fondles it. He looks to
Jerrod.
CUT TO:
Jerrod and Randy Rage re-enter the room from the back door,
having come from Buferd's room with an armload of weaponry.
Jerrod sets a pile of guns on the table as Lisa stares from
the corner of the room where she sits curled in a fetal
position. Miranda Shelly peers through the main door.
MIRANDA SHELLY
The hall looks clear. There's no
telling how many of those things
have already made it outside. We're
going to need a lot more firepower
if this is going to work.
RANDY RAGE
There's a shitload more where this
came from. This Buferd guy's a bigger
gun nut than all my uncles put
together.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
114.
Miranda Shelly picks up an uzi.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
First time handling one?
MIRANDA SHELLY
You kidding? My dad used to take me
hunting every other weekend.
RANDY RAGE
With an uzi?
Miranda Shelly grins. She pops off the magazine to check the
ammo level, then pops it back on and cocks the gun.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
You're, uh... kinda handy.
As Lisa watches from the corner, Jerrod picks up a revolver
from the table and slides it into his belt.
JERROD
We'll grab a few more from Buferd's
room, then we'll make a break for
it.
RANDY RAGE
This better work.
JERROD
It will. If we don't bury this thing,
we're screwed.
LISA
You think Gregory is dead, don't
you?
Jerrod looks down at Lisa.
LISA (CONT'D)
You've given up on him completely.
Jerrod continues to stare down at Lisa as he draws a large
shotgun over his shoulder and accompanies Randy Rage through
the back door, disappearing into the dark corridor to Buferd's
room. After a moment, a strange sound emanates from the
corridor. Miranda Shelly stares down into it.
Lisa slowly stands and walks over to the table. She picks up
a magnum and stares at it for a moment.
MIRANDA SHELLY
What are you doing?
Lisa slides the magnum into her jeans, slinging a mac-10
over her shoulder and taking up a shotgun in her hands as
she walks toward the main door.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
115.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
We need to wait for the guys. They're
coming with us!
Lisa stops for a moment and turns to Miranda Shelly. She
understands.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
You're not coming with us.
Lisa stares back at Miranda Shelly for a moment. Miranda
Shelly looks back to the teens, then back to Lisa. She throws
her a nod. Lisa nods back and continues out the door.
As Miranda Shelly watches Lisa go, a tentacle drops from the
ceiling behing her, beyond the back door. One of the teens
screams and Miranda Shelly spins around to blast it with her
uzi. The Tentacle Creature screams and drops to the floor.
Miranda Shelly riddles the writhing creature with bullets as
the teens gather behind her. Suddenly, a horde of undead
begin to emerge from the back door, stepping over the felled
Tentacle Creature.
HOTTIE IN RED
Oh god, we're cut-off!
MIRANDA SHELLY
Follow me!
Miranda Shelly leads the teens out the main door and through
the hallway as the creatures shuffle after them.
165 INT. BUFERD'S ROOM -- NIGHT 165
Jerrod stands at the gun cabinet while randy stands near the
door.
RANDY RAGE
What was that? Was that gunfire?
JERROD
Uh... shit. Take these.
As Jerrod grabs the guns from the cabinet by flashlight and
tosses them to Randy Rage, the door creaks slowly open. Jerrod
turns around to see undead Buferd standing behind Randy Rage.
Undead Buferd is splattered with blood and carries the heads
of Mr. Joad and Bo Jack on is belt.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Look out!
Randy Rage spins around in time to see undead Buferd as he
grabs Randy Rage by the collar and throws him across the
room. Jerrod grabs a gun from the cabinet and spins back
around to see Buferd holding a shotgun high. Jerrod drops to
the floor just before the cabinet explodes with Buferd's
gunfire. Buferd blasts the room almost randomly, making his
way to the gun cabinet. Buferd grabs the gun cabinet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
116.
BUFERD
Nobody fucks with my guns!
Jerrod and Randy Rage quickly scurry through the dark corners
of the room and out the door.
166 INT. WORKSHOP -- NIGHT 166
Jerrod and Randy burst into the room as Jerrod struggles to
lock the door behind them. Randy Rage approaches an array of
monitors.
RANDY RAGE
My god. Look at this, they're
everywhere. They're all over the
house. Shit, I don't see Miranda and
the kids.
Another monitor reveals Lisa at an access ladder climbing
down into the basement. Jerrod's face grows pale.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
Isn't that your girl?
JERROD
She isn't my girl.
Jerrod caresses the monitor. He picks up his gun, walking to
the outer doors and begins fiddling with the controls.
RANDY RAGE
This shit is fuckin' crazy.
Randy Rage gathers his things and begins to move on when he
suddenly notices something in one of the monitors. He stops
and grabs the screen as he sees what seems to be the fuzzy
form of a beautiful woman.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
Sandra?
Sandra Storm looks slowly up at the monitor, almost as if
she knows Randy Rage is staring at her.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
Sandra!
Jerrod manages to activate the door as it raises revealing
the open back lot. Randy Rage gathers his gear and runs
outside with Jerrod as a tool hanger sits on the wall with
two empty spots.
167 EXT. BACK OF THE BUILDING -- NIGHT 167
Jerrod runs outside and drops to his knees, digging hard
with his shovel. Randy Rage begins to hack at the dirt with
his pick ax.
RANDY RAGE
You don't have to go back, you know.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
117.
JERROD
I take it you do?
RANDY RAGE
My girl's in there. Not leaving
without her.
JERROD
You know, there's no way to know for
sure that she isn't...
RANDY RAGE
Like I said, I'm not leaving here
without her.
Jerrod reflects on the notion for a moment as they dig. The
amulet hangs from his wrist, its chains wrapped around his
hand.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
What the hell's suppose to happen
when we bury this thing?
JERROD
I don't know.
RANDY RAGE
Well, what happened when those...
Babylonian... fuckin'... whatever
the fuck they were...
JERROD
They were early Egyptians.
RANDY RAGE
Yeah, whatever. What happened when
they buried this little bastard?
JERROD
What happened? Death came.
RANDY RAGE
Oh. Thanks.
Jerrod pauses in his digging for a moment and looks up to
the night sky.
JERROD
And a spiritual apocalypse was wrought
upon our sandy kingdom as a force of
nature, setting the night ablaze
with an inferno of fury from the god
Anubis. The god of death reaped the
souls, severing the mortal coils
with his mighty talons, gnawing on
the gristle of their wickedness with
his razor teeth, and grinding their
unholy bones to dust under his feet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
118.
JERROD (CONT'D)
When the eater of souls had finished,
not a stone stood... in the din of
the arrogant Pharaoh... who would be
immortal.
Randy Rage stops digging for a moment.
RANDY RAGE
Jesus Christ.
Jerrod stares back at Randy Rage for a moment, then shoves
his shovel back into the dirt with grim determination.
168 INT. DRESSING ROOM -- NIGHT 168
Miranda Shelly stands at the back of the room, the teens
gathered behind her, as she sprays the door with uzi shells,
driving off the invading creatures.
HOTTIE IN RED
There's no other way out! I think
we're dead!
MIRANDA SHELLY
Not yet.
Miranda Shelly continues to blast the creatures one by one
as they shuffle, crawl, and leap into the room through the
door.
One of the felled creatures begins to crawl toward the teens.
Miranda Shelly notices just in time and blows its head off.
Miranda Shelly pulls her clip and grabs another one from her
belt, snapping it into place.
Another creature bursts through the door holding a Dead Teen
up high as a shield. Miranda Shelly fires at the creature,
but her bullets only riddle the body of the Dead Teen.
Suddenly, the Dead Teen's eyes open and it glares down upon
Miranda Shelly, shrieking ferociously. Miranda Shelly backs
up slowly.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Jesus. Everyone get behind me!
As it approaches them, a shotgun suddenly blasts the undead
creature from the back and it drops to its knees, the Dead
Teen falling to the floor beside it. Randy Rage stands in
the doorway behind the creatures with a smoking shotgun. The
Dead Teen draws its self up on its hands and looks up at
Randy Rage behind it, hissing at him with crimson eyes and
blood soaked lips. Randy Rage props himself against the
doorway and blasts the Dead Teen with a shot to the face.
Randy Rage looks up at Miranda Shelly with a blood-splattered
face.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Did you?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
119.
RANDY RAGE
Yeah, we buried it. Nothing happened.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Where's the other guy?
RANDY RAGE
Jerrod. I don't know, we got split
up. Those fucking things are
everywhere.
Miranda Shelly looks down at the Dead Teen.
MIRANDA SHELLY
We need to be very careful.
Suddenly, undead Buferd cocks a shotgun behind Randy Rage.
Randy Rage spins around just as buferd blasts him in the
shoulder.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Randy!
Miranda Shelly opens up on Buferd with her uzi, blasting him
back into the hallway beyond.
RANDY RAGE
You!
As Buferd begins to stand again, Randy Rage blasts him with
his shotgun, sending him flying further into the darkness.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
You motherfucker!
Randy Rage chases Buferd down the hall, blasting his shotgun
into the darkness as he runs.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Randy!
Miranda Shelly runs down the hallway after them, followed
closely by the teens.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
Randy!
169 EXT. PARKING LOT -- NIGHT 169
The parking lot sits empty. Shotgun blasts ring out from
inside the facility as thunder rolls. Clouds slowly gather
overhead in a circular pattern as a low rumble permeates the
sky.
170 EXT. BACK OF THE BUILDING -- NIGHT 170
The mound of earth where the amulet was buried begins to
glow a deep green as the mound sinks slowly to ground level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
120.
171 EXT. MAIN ENTRANCE -- NIGHT 171
Undead creatures shuffle slowly out the front door and stare
off into the dark woods as a bright, green light suddenly
gleams from beyond the trees. The light grows brighter as
the creatures heave at the gate.
172 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 172
Miranda Shelly barrels through the hall, followed by the
teens, occasionally blasting undead creatures as they appear.
173 INT. LOBBY -- NIGHT 173
Miranda Shelly leads the teens into the lobby to be faced
with a mob of undead creatures. The creatures gather around
and claw at them as Miranda Shelly sprays her uzi. The uzi
runs dry. She pulls a handgun from her belt and continues to
peg the creatures one at a time. They begin to surround her.
The teens are shrieking. Miranda Shelly whips around and
blasts creatures creeping up behind the teens, spinning around
again to blast the creatures in front of her. The odds become
overwhelming.
HOTTIE IN RED
What are we gonna do?
MIRANDA SHELLY
I... I don't know.
A hand reaches out and grabs Hottie in Red. It's her
boyfriend. He's covered in blood and his brains are spilling
out of his skull.
HOTTIE IN RED
Nooo! Heeeelllp!
Miranda Shelly tries to get to her, but is cut off by other
creatures. Hottie's Boyfriend drags her slowly into the
crowd of creatures.
HOTTIE IN RED (CONT'D)
Pleeease! Nooo! Don't.. oh god,
Michael, please.. don't!
The creature only drools on her and holds her in a choke
hold. They spin and spins out of control. Her vision becomes
a blur. She screams as loud as she can.
HOTTIE IN RED (CONT'D)
God.. nooooo!!!!
He takes her by the face and begins to lash his tongue around,
preparing to latch his bloody mouth onto hers.
Suddenly, his shoulder explodes. He turns with one arm to
see Miranda Shelly holding a gun on the other side of the
crowd of creatures, the other teens safely behind her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
121.
MIRANDA SHELLY
She said no, motherfucker.
She lets another shot fly, and the creature is sent hurling
into the mob of zombies. Hottie in Red limps over to Miranda
Shelly's arms.
Miranda Shelly raises her gun and tries to shoot another
creature, but she's empty. The creatures begin to close in.
She pulls out a small pistol.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
This is bad.
Suddenly, a green light begins to protrude from the main
entrance. The light grows brighter, until the room is washed
in a sickly green. The main entrance doors creep open
revealing what appears to be a dark, cloaked figure standing
alone in the archway. The undead creatures turn slowly to
look. The cloaked figure raises something tall and slender
into the air, slowly producing an enormous blade at the end.
One creature stares in disbelief as the figure swipes his
blade straight through the creature. The undead corpse drops
to its knees, leaving a ghostly Phantom to stand in its place.
The cloaked figure approaches the Phantom, opening its cloak
and enveloping the Phantom in a blinding light.
Miranda Shelly covers her eyes for a moment, peering out
once more to see that the ghost is gone and the cloaked figure
is slicing down undead creatures all over the room. The figure
seems to throw Miranda Shelly a glance.
MIRANDA SHELLY (CONT'D)
C'mon... we're getting the hell out
of here!
As Miranda Shelly leads the others back through the hall,
the cloaked figure produces another blade from its other
hand and continues to ravage the undead creatures.
174 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 174
An undead creature rears its ugly face and is quickly blasted
away by Lisa's gunfire. Lisa holds the creature's head down
with her boot and blasts its head one more time. Lisa cocks
her mac-10.
LISA
Gregory!!
175 INT. DARK CELL #2 -- NIGHT 175
Lisa kicks the door open to find Gregory lying on a stack of
crates and covered with wood and dust.
LISA
Gregory!
Lisa runs to the boy and gently frees him from the pile of
boards as he moans in agony.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
122.
LISA (CONT'D)
Gregory, are you OK?
GREGORY
Where's Jerrod?
LISA
Who knows.
Lisa kisses Gregory on the forehead as she picks him up.
LISA (CONT'D)
You're bleeding.
Gregory moans softly as Lisa feels his wrist for a pulse.
LISA (CONT'D)
Hang in there, OK Gregory? You're
going to be fine.
GREGORY
J... Jerrod.
As she holds Gregory, Lisa turns to see an undead creature
snarling at her with a pick ax in its hand. Realizing her
gun is on the floor and her arms are full, Lisa stares in
shock for a split second as the creature begins to bring
down the ax upon her. As the creature lunges toward her with
the ax, a shotgun blast suddenly explodes its head, dropping
it to the floor. Jerrod stands at the door with his shotgun.
JERROD
Lets get out of here.
176 INT. CAGE HALL #2 -- NIGHT 176
Jerrod and Lisa run through the hall with Jerrod.
LISA
Goddamn you, I thought you left us!
JERROD
I didn't.
LISA
You keep disappearing on me!
JERROD
I'm not gonna leave you.
LISA
I thought I was on my own with him.
Jerrod grabs Lisa by the shoulders.
JERROD
Hey! I'm not going anywhere, OK? I'm
here! Look, I've never taken this
off.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
123.
LISA
What is this?
JERROD
Honestly, I have no clue. I thought
it belonged to my foster mother...
but I'm starting to have my doubts.
Jerrod takes off his star necklace and drops it around Lisa's
neck.
LISA
What are you doing?
JERROD
I'm not giving you this! I just
want you to hold this until we get
out, OK? Cause we're going to get
out of here together! Right?
LISA
What if we don't?
JERROD
We will!
LISA
But what if you disappear on me
again?!
JERROD
Look, when this is all over, if I'm
not around to take this back, then
you just keep wearing it, alright?
Cause I'll be with you.
LISA
Yeah?
Jerrod rubs Gregory's head. He looks up to Lisa.
JERROD
Like I said, I'm not going anywhere.
Lisa looks back down to Gregory.
LISA
He's hurt. I need to get him to a
doctor.
JERROD
We'll get him some help.
Jerrod reaches over to open a door. A swarm of tentacles
suddenly bursts in from the other side.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Goddammit!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
124.
Jerrod holds the door at a crack with his boot, shoving the
barrel of his gun through the opening and blasting the
creature over and over. Creatures slowly crawl from the cages.
Lisa turns around to see that they are being slowly
overwhelmed. Jerrod finally barricades the door and leans
against it to see the other creatures slowly closing them
it. Lisa and Jerrod stand together, protecting Gregory in
the middle. As the creatures gather closer, Jerrod looks
down to see how much ammo he has left and Lisa drops to her
knees, holding Gregory tight.
GREGORY
I'm scared.
LISA
Don't look at them, Gregory. Close
your eyes.
Lisa squeezes her nephew as tears roll down her cheeks. Jerrod
looks down upon them, then cocks his gun and draws it up to
bare on the impossibly outnumbering mob of creatures.
LISA (CONT'D)
Oh god.
Suddenly, a green light begins to creep inside from beyond
the creatures. Jarred stares into the light.
Lisa continues to hold Gregory tight as a low rumbling echoes
and the room is slowly lit up in hazy green. Lisa slowly
opens her eyes to see the undead creatures part, revealing a
cloaked figure in the center. The cloaked figure opens the
flaps of its cloak, revealing them to be something more like
wings. The figure appears as a slightly translucent beast of
some kind, staring down at them with an animal-like skull,
tattered wings spread wide, and wielding an incredible curved
talon at the tip of each arm.
JERROD
I... I know you.
The Reaper swings its talons across the room, reaping each
undead creature one by one. The Reaper then hunches down on
its arms and seems to grow to an incredible size as it opens
its mouth wide revealing an amazing tornado of green light
that seems to swirl from its gut. The Phantoms left from the
reaped corpses are slowly drawn into the spinning light,
scratching and clawing as they go. After gulping down the
roomful of souls, the Reaper turns to Jerrod and Lisa. Lisa
inspects Gregory.
LISA
Gregory! He's not breathing!
Jerrod looks up to see the Reaper stand over them with eyes
ablaze.
JERROD
Take him. We gotta go.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
125.
Lisa looks up to Jerrod.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Go!!
Lisa snatches Gregory up as the Reaper shrieks and lunges at
them.
177 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 177
Lisa runs with Gregory held tight as Jerrod follows, throwing
his head back to see the Reaper rampaging out into the hall
after them.
178 INT. MORTONICS LAB -- NIGHT 178
Lisa crashes into the room and stares back into the hall.
LISA
Jerrod!
The Reaper suddenly appears at the end of the hall, charging
toward the door. Lisa screams, slamming the door shut as she
stacks crates against it to keep the Reaper out.
Lisa spins around to see zombie creatures standing near
tables, tubes protruding from their flesh. One lunges for
her. She produces a pistol and blows its face off. She
screams at the top of her lungs and puts the others down as
they attempt to pounce on her and Gregory.
Lisa drops to the floor and holds the motionless boy tight
as the Reaper pounds incessantly on the door, causing the
very walls to shake as if the entire building were coming
down.
LISA (CONT'D)
(crying)
I'm gonna get you outta here. I
promise I am. I'm gonna get you outta
here, baby. I am. I am.
179 EXT. BACK OF THE BUILDING -- NIGHT 179
Miranda Shelly bursts through the back gate and escorts the
teens out of the building. Undead creatures slowly rise from
the tall grass and threaten the teens. Miranda Shelly unloads
her handgun into the creatures. More crop up. Miranda Shelly
tosses down her empty weapon and pulls out a revolver,
continuing to blast the creatures.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Goddammit, Randy! Where the fuck are
you when I need you!?
180 INT. WEREWOLF ROOM -- NIGHT 180
Randy Rage bursts into the room holding his bloody shoulder.
The werewolf bursts suddenly out of the wall and Randy Rage
spins around to blast a hole in it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
126.
RANDY RAGE
Shit!
As Randy Rage turns around, Buferd stands over him from the
walkways above the walls. Buferd aims his shotgun and blows
a hole through Randy Rage's stomach. Randy Rage is knocked
against the wall and slides to the floor. He begins to crawl
away. Buferd slowly follows him with his shotgun in-hand,
shooting him again and again from above.
BUFERD
Shouldn't have come back, boy.
RANDY RAGE
I'm not... leaving here... without...
Sandra.
BUFERD
Ain't a slit in this world sweet
enough to die for, boy.
RANDY RAGE
You go fuck yourself.
BUFERD
Might as well fuck yourself... cuz
your little whore's a goddamn corpse!
RANDY RAGE
You're full of shit!
BUFERD
She's dead as dirt, dumbass! Just
one of us mindless animals, now.
Sheeeat...
Buferd drops down to the floor and stands over Randy Rage.
BUFERD (CONT'D)
She's just like me.
RANDY RAGE
Fuck you.
Buferd lowers his gun at Randy Rage's face.
BUFERD
No... fuck you.
Randy Rage closes his eyes. A piercing noise. No gunshot.
Randy Rage slowly opens his eyes to see Buferd standing over
him with a shocked look on his face. The crimson beauty stands
behind Buferd with a pick axe firmly lodged in the back of
his head.
RANDY RAGE
Sandra?
Sandra Storm pulls the pick axe out of Buferd's head and he
collapses to the floor.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
127.
She proceeds to methodically bash what's left of Buferd into
pulp. Randy Rage braces himself against the wall as she stares
down at him with glistening red eyes, dripping with blood.
181 INT. MORTONICS LAB -- NIGHT 181
Lisa opens her eyes to see that the door is still.
LISA
The pounding... it stopped. Gregory?
Gregory, wake up! Please, baby!
Lisa feels Gregory's neck and shakes his hands. A green mist
slowly pours into the room from a vent above. Lisa looks up
to see the ghostly Reaper forming from the mist above.
LISA (CONT'D)
Oh god. Gregory? Gregory! Please!
Please!!
182 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 182
Footsteps pound as Jerrod runs toward Lisa's screams.
183 INT. MORTONICS LAB -- NIGHT 183
Jerrod bursts into the room to see Lisa being terrorized by
the Reaper.
LISA
Jerrod!
The Reaper whips around to stare down at Jerrod. Jerrod holds
up the dirt covered golden amulet with his muddy hand. The
Reaper shrieks and writhes. Jerrod swings the amulet around
the tip of his shotgun by its chain and aims the gun toward
the Reaper.
JERROD
By the everlasting power of the
gods...
Jerrod blasts the Reaper.
JERROD (CONT'D)
By decree of the Seven Shadows...
He blasts again and again, throwing the creature back in
pain.
JERROD (CONT'D)
You will leave this place... now!
Jerrod fires again, and again, finally blasting the Reaper
back as it whips down into the ground below. The green light
fades, leaving only the dim red light from the hallway. Jerrod
stands in shock for a moment, then runs over to Gregory.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
128.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Gregory! C'mon, buddy! Let's go, get
up! I know you're still alive, kid.
Jerrod begins to perform CPR on young Gregory.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Let's go, c'mon... Don't worry buddy,
your aunt's not gonna leave you,
right Lisa?
LISA
Gregory!
JERROD
So you're not allowed to leave her,
OK?
Jerrod finally gives up on his CPR.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Goddammit!
LISA
I told them. I told them I couldn't
do it. I can't do this... I'm not
his fucking mother! I'm not... I
can't...
JERROD
Lisa...
Jerrod shakes his head. Lisa grabs Gregory and holds him
tight.
LISA
Please Gregory, don't! Don't leave
me. Don't leave me!
Lisa holds Gregory tight as Jerrod notices an undead creature
entering the room and blasts the creature with his shotgun.
Lisa begins to whisper a song to Gregory.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Last night... while I was sleeping...
Jerrod blasts another creature.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
I dreamt I held you... in my arms...
Jerrod blasts another.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
But when I woke dear... I was
mistaken...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
129.
Jerrod blasts another, and another.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Oh I just held my head down and cried.
Jerrod screams in anger as he blasts creature after creature
while Lisa sings to the boy. Green viles explode as Jerrod
hits everything in the room with his hail of gunfire.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
You are my sunshine... my only
sunshine... you make me happy...
when skies are gray... you'll never
know dear... how much I love you...
The creatures stop coming and Jerrod turns to see Lisa sobbing
over her nephew as her tears fall one by one onto Gregory's
face.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
So please don't take my sunshine
away.
Gregory takes a slow breath. He paws at Lisa for a second.
Then holds two fingers to his lips, motioning for a cigarette.
LISA (CONT'D)
(whispers)
Gregory.
Lisa holds the boy close. Jerrod drops his gun and runs to
Gregory's side.
JERROD
Hey buddy.
LISA
It was your CPR.
JERROD
No.
Jerrod stares into Lisa's eyes as he takes her shoulder.
JERROD (CONT'D)
It was more than that.
A tear rolls down Lisa's cheek as she begins to smile.
GREGORY
I'm dizzy.
JERROD
You're hurt, pal. But you're alright.
You're not bleeding anymore. You're
gonna be fine. You're going with
your aunt Lisa.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
130.
GREGORY
You too?
Jerrod holds Lisa's hand.
LISA
Yeah, honey. We're all going together,
OK? We're... we're all gonna be happy.
Without warning, Jerrod's gut explodes splattering blood on
Lisa's face as she jumps back in shock. Jerrod reaches down
to feel his stomach, then draws up his blood covered hand
and stares in disbelief. Lisa slowly gazes up to see the
bloody, undead form of Mr. Griffin standing up slowly with
Jerrod's smoking shotgun.
Mr. Griffin stands dazed. He looks around to see the lifeless
bodies of his victims, their tubes still connected. He makes
his way to a counter stocked with green viles.
Jerrod lies in the corner as he holds his wounds and gasps
for breath.
Mr. Griffin uses a syringe to extract the green liquid from
a vile. He feels around his arm for a moment. He begins to
slap his neck and tense his throat muscles. He jabs the needle
into his neck and plunges the liquid into him, then collapses
on the table for a moment to recover. He looks up to see
shattered viles all over the counter.
MR. GRIFFIN
Little shits... fucked up my serum.
Coulda'... coulda' ruined it all!
The undead Mr. Griffin glances down at the amulet on the
floor.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
And you stole. You stole from me!
He takes hold of the chains that bind the amulet and picks
it up, clenching the chains tight. He glares down on Lisa
and Gregory as the amulet dangles from his fist.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
I'm gonna be pickin' my teeth with
your goddamn bones.
Gregory stares up at the shambling Mr. Griffin in terror.
Lisa holds him close. Jerrod slowly pulls a revolver from
his belt with what little strength he can muster, aims it at
Mr. Griffin and pulls the trigger... "click!"
He pulls again... "click!"
Mr. Griffin chuckles. Jerrod tries one more time... "bang!"
Mr. Griffin lurches back. He steadies himself in shock for a
moment, then slowly realizes that he is unharmed by the
bullet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
131.
Jerrod clicks the empty gun several more times before he
runs out of energy and drops the gun to the floor.
Mr. Griffin chuckles. He stands tall and approaches Lisa and
Gregory again. He stands over them.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
There's no killin' the king of scream,
little lady. You wanna be in my little
show? I'm gonna take hero over there,
and I'm gonna string him up by is
eyelids. Maybe chain him down
underwater. Give him a month, he'll
look like a goddamn humpback whale!
Lisa covers Gregory's ears as she stares up at Mr. Griffin.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Shit... you guys don't know how lucky
you are. Why, there is no greater
service one can perform in civilized
society than to entertain. We can
build all the skyscrapers we want...
put a million men on Mars... but
what is life... without art? We are
artists, little missy.
Lisa looks away. Griffin grabs her chin and shouts in her
ear.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Artists!
Jerrod notices a revolver on the floor near his boot. He
kicks the revolver over to Lisa with what strength he has
left. She looks back at him with concern. He throws a nod to
her. He looks to Gregory, then back to Lisa. She looks at
Gregory, then looks down at the gun in her hand. She slowly
stands and aims the gun at Mr. Griffin. She holds Gregory's
hand firm in her other hand.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
You gotta be joking.
Lisa stands tall and aims carefully.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Go ahead, crazy bitch. Gimme another
hole, see if it phases me.
Lisa hesitates.
MR. GRIFFIN (CONT'D)
Do it! Do it ya stupid whore, put
one where it hurts! Put one where it
fuckin' hurts!
LISA
You got it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
132.
Lisa pulls the trigger, firing at the golden amulet hanging
from Mr. Griffin's fist. Sparks fly as the amulet is blasted
into a thousand pieces, its shards flying in every direction.
Mr. Griffin looks slowly down to his empty hand, then back
up to Lisa.
MR. GRIFFIN
Shit.
A deep red light swells up from behind the undead Mr. Griffin.
Jerrod looks to Lisa.
JERROD
Go.
Jerrod kicks his bag over to Lisa.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Go!!
Lisa stares into Jerrod's eyes. With tear-stained cheeks,
Lisa slings the bag over her shoulder, draws up Gregory into
her arms, and dashes out of the room as fast as she can.
Jerrod sits motionless, watching the red light swell as the
Reaper suddenly blasts into the room, cutting Mr. Griffin
down and gobbling up his soul with ferocious speed. The Reaper
turns to Jerrod, who lies bleeding at the end of the room.
JERROD (CONT'D)
Not afraid... not afraid...
The enormous Reaper crawls slowly to Jerrod and bares down
upon him from above.
JERROD (CONT'D)
What is it you want from me.
The reaper spreads its jaws wide, revealing an amazing light
from within. Jerrod is blinded momentarily.
When Jerrod opens his eyes, he finds himself surrounded by
seven cloaked figures. Jerrod cringes a bit as one stands
toe-to-toe with him and begins to bring down his hood. As
Jerrod stares into the hood, it slowly drops to reveal Jerrod
staring right back at himself. Jerrod lets out a scream of
terror as we delve into his iris.
We swim through Jerrod's conscious mind, finally entering
his unconscious mind where we come upon a great red ocean
where Jerrod bursts from the water, as if awakening from a
life-long dormancy. As Jerrod bursts from the water, we delve
right back into his iris and into blackness.
184 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 184
Lisa bursts into the hallway with Gregory. Several undead
creatures close in upon her. Lisa quickly draws two mac-10s
from the bag and blast the creatures away.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
133.
185 INT. CAGE HALL #2 -- NIGHT 185
Creatures swarm around the exit as Lisa and Gregory launch
into the room. Lisa sprays creatures with both mac-10s until
they run dry. Lisa grabs her shotgun and begins to blast the
creatures one by one as she moves with Gregory.
186 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 186
The bloody creatures hiss and claw at Lisa as she blasts
them. A creature suddenly bursts through the wall with a
chainsaw, swinging it wildly at Lisa. She blasts the creature,
but her shells seem only to bounce off the metal of the
chainsaw. Lisa quickly drops to her knees and blasts the
creature's legs out from under it. She then whips around to
blast creatures approaching from behind, but her shotgun is
out of shells. Lisa tosses down her last gun and snatches
the chainsaw from the clutches of the undead creature as she
leads Gregory quickly through the hall, waving the chainsaw
behind her as she goes.
187 INT. DISPLAY ROOM -- NIGHT 187
Lisa rushes inside with Gregory and latches the door shut as
she spins around to see the room is packed with undead
creatures. Lisa begins to chop arms and heads in every
direction, clearing a path through the creatures. One creature
grabs her from behind and pins her against the wall. Lisa
digs into the creature's gut with her chainsaw, flipping the
creature around and pinning it against the wall as she saws
the creature in half. Lisa grabs Gregory and leads him out
as the headless and armless creatures close in after her. A
pair of legs, cut-off at the waist, stumbles around the room
as its torso crawls slowly after her.
188 INT. DARK HALLWAY -- NIGHT 188
Lisa and Gregory emerge on the ground floor from the access
ladder and begin to run toward the front entrance.
189 INT. HAUNTED BEDROOM -- NIGHT 189
Lisa and Gregory dash across the corridor. Suddenly, Lisa is
tripped by a thin wire along the floor, sending her tumbling
face first. She rolls over to see undead Robbie standing
over her. He is marred by deep gashes all over his body.
ROBBIE
(raspy)
Ungrateful.
Lisa stares back intensely at Robbie for a moment. She then
reaches across the floor and draws up her chainsaw. Robbie
quickly unleashes a single blade from his sickle. He swings
hard, chopping the blade right off the chainsaw. Lisa stares
up in awe and terror. She claws her way backwards and blocks
Gregory with her body. Robbie towers over her. He twitches
his weapon once more, releasing a second blade from his
sickle.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
134.
ROBBIE (CONT'D)
(raspy, echoed)
You cannot escape... death!
A light begins to emerge from behind Robbie. The ghostly
form of the Reaper slowly materializes. Robbie slowly turns
his head into the blinding light. Lisa holds Gregory close
as Robbie's phantom is slowly sucked, screaming and writhing,
into the violent beam of merciless oblivion.
The building begins to shake. Lisa picks up Gregory and begins
to run hard for the exit.
190 INT. WEREWOLF ROOM -- NIGHT 190
Randy Rage sits against the wall, writhing in pain as he
holds his bloody stomach. Sandra Storm kneels before him and
inspects his wound.
SANDRA STORM
You're...
RANDY RAGE
I'm gone.
SANDRA STORM
Randy, I'm...
RANDY RAGE
Sandra...
Randy Rage grips Sandra Storm's hand tightly.
RANDY RAGE (CONT'D)
I'm sorry, baby. I'm sorry.
SANDRA STORM
Shhhh.
Sandra Storm takes Randy Rage's face slowly in her hands and
presses her forehead to his as a swirling light envelopes
the room.
191 INT. BACK OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 191
Undead creatures gather around as Miranda Shelly pulls the
teens together in a tight circle, firing her last shot and
tossing her gun in the grass as she pulls out a switchblade.
MIRANDA SHELLY
Alright, c'mon you motherfuckers!
Let's do it!
Hottie's Boyfriend rises from the grass and grabs Hottie in
Red. He tosses her to the ground and hovers over her.
As Miranda Shelly tries to come to her aid, another creature
pops up and grabs her by the hair, throwing her down.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
135.
Creatures surround the teens, wrestling them down and glaring
down upon them, drooling and bleeding on them.
Suddenly, a swirl of light sweeps from the building and the
phantoms of the undead creatures are sucked into the ground
below as the corpses collapse in the grass.
192 EXT. PARKING LOT -- DAY 192
Daylight slowly permeates the sky as Lisa and Gregory run
from the building, dropping to their knees in the parking
lot. Lisa looks back to see the facility begin to swell and
glow a vibrant red. Sparks dart from inside, exploding all
around them. Lisa holds Gregory tight.
LISA
Gregory! Don't look at the light!
Lisa and Gregory watch as the entire complex is enveloped in
a swirling light which seems to pull the very structure apart.
As the two look on in horror, the building is completely
overtaken by the light and pulled slowly down into the ground.
Only an empty lot remains as Lisa and Gregory gaze across
the rising smoke to see Miranda Shelly with the teens in the
grass beyond.
193 EXT. BACK OF THE BUILDING -- DAY 193
Miranda Shelly looks across to Lisa and Gregory.
HOTTIE IN RED
Are we it? Where is everyone else?!
MIRANDA SHELLY
They... they're all gone now.
The teens stand around Miranda Shelly, overwhelmed with tears.
Miranda Shelly holds Hottie in Red with one arm as she stands
firm over the smoldering pit, her switchblade still in hand.
She stares back at Lisa.
194 EXT. PARKING LOT -- DAY 194
Lisa stares across at Miranda Shelly and her group, then
looks down at Gregory. Gregory looks back up at Lisa.
CUT TO:
195 EXT. PARKING LOT -- DAY 195
Lisa carries Gregory to their car, putting him in the front
seat. She fastens his seat belt. She closes his door and
walks around the car, taking a seat on the driver's side.
She closes her door and pauses. Gregory looks over to her as
she sits silently for a moment at the wheel. Lisa picks up
the bag. She stares at it for a second, then slings it onto
the dashboard and buckles her seat belt.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
136.
LISA
So... Minnesota, huh?
Gregory looks up suddenly. Lisa looks down at Gregory. She
shakes her head.
196 EXT. RANCH HOME -- DAY 196
As the sun rises into a deep purple sky, the lone silhouette
of a car creeps up the long, dusty highway. The car turns
into a long driveway and approaches a ranch home.
CUT TO:
197 EXT. RANCH HOME - PORCH -- DAY 197
Lisa bangs on the screen door. No one answers. She pulls a
pen and a scrap of paper from her pocket. She scribbles on
the back of it and sticks it in the screen door. She looks
the door over from the top down one last time, then strolls
off the porch.
CUT TO:
198 EXT. RANCH HOME - PORCH -- NIGHT 198
As dusk threatens to turn into night, headlights shine over
the porch. The creaky door of a pickup truck opens and slams.
The sound of boots stomp up the steps and onto the porch. A
leather gloved hand pulls the note from the door. It reads
Stopped by to drop off something that belongs to you, -Lisa.
There is something resting on the porch swing as it rocks
back and forth in the cool breeze. The figure walks over to
the swing. The bag sits in the center of the swing. The figure
picks up the bag and proceeds to dig around inside.
The figure is revealed to be Joanna Stang.
She pulls out the book titled The Partial Journal of Professor
Jebodiah Stang. She then pulls out a small stack of burnt
pages in ziplock bags. Surprised, she flips the note over to
see what it was written on: a scrap of paper that reads
Necrophobia - Museum of the Demented and the Damned. She
sets the papers aside and flips over the backpack. The luggage
tag reads Jerrod Dean Foster.
She slowly slides off her sunglasses and stares out into the
afterglow of the sunset as she dials her cell phone.
JOANNA STANG
You're not going to believe this. I
don't know where he is, or if he's
still alive, but... I think I've
found my brother Jerrod. I think The
Journeyman has returned.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
137.
199 EXT. GAS STATION -- DAY 199
Lisa dumps several fast food bags and cups into a trash can.
She sits a duffel bag on the lip of the can. She opens it to
reveal dozens of pill bottles. She pauses. She zips up the
bag and lets it fall into the trash. She puts on her
sunglasses.
She exits the gas station with a pair of slurpees. She takes
a seat in the driver's seat and hands one slurpee to Gregory.
He looks up at her. He takes a sip.
GREGORY
I wish Jerrod could have come with
us.
She pulls out Jerrod's star necklace from her shirt and rubs
it.
LISA
Put your seat belt on, baby. We
have a long way to go.
She kisses him on the head and helps him buckle his belt.
The car starts up and pulls slowly away from the gas station,
driving off into the gleaming sunrise of a new day.
200 EXT. LONG DUSTY HIGHWAY -- DAY 200
As the morning sun shines bright, the silhouette of a
hitchhiker appears slowly from thin air on the road as he
continues to walk down the side of the highway and into his
destiny.
