Well I really hadn't intended to talk about it until I had a rough draft, but since James here has spilled the beans (ruining the surprise for the rest of the class, way to go sir), I suppose there's no harm in discussing it now.
I guess it was about six months ago, and I was standing precariously on a ladder, screwing in a lightbulb on my outside porch. Well, it wasn't actually *my* outside porch. Truth be told, I didn't know whose porch it was at the time. And I never found out.
Anyway, as interesting as this all sounds, it's neither here nor there. The point is, I eventually fell off of that ladder and hit my head. When I came to, I found that an entire story was swirling around in my head. I could see the first act, then the second. I still don't know how it ends because some obnoxious neighbor ran me off, breaking my concentration. Not to worry, though, the third act is the easy part.
The story it's self involves time travelers who journey back tens of thousands or millions of years, back to the Cretaceous period, or the Jurassic, or whichever period had the coolest dinosaurs, and they go hunting for T-Rexes and other mean creatures for sport! Trouble begins when one of them accidentally steps on a butterfly and, upon returning to their own time, finds that the history of the Earth has been drastically distorted! I think the idea came from Jurassic Park, when that guy from Earth Girls are Easy was talking about the "butterfly effect". But it's hard to know how the unconscious mind works.
So I am working on the script as we speak, but I can't be sure that I will be the guy to direct this piece. It's going to be a very tricky emotional piece with a lot of depth. A lot of layers. I'm thinking about asking the guy who directed Stay Tuned and Timecop. That guy is amazing.
With or without him, I think we can expect to be in production by spring of 2006.
So there you have it. Although I had reservations about giving away too much too soon on this one, it was also important to me to control the rumors that might have flown around. I'm really a much bigger fan of the truth flying around.
Happy camping, folks..

Would you believe it, that jackass who made Timecop went off and made the movie without me! He called it "The Sound of Lumberg" or "The Sock of Thunder", something like that. What's REALLY weird is, I hadn't even told him about it yet! I think he was listening in on my delusional episode!
